✅ Maheshwar Fort History (Short Points)

Maheshwar Fort is situated on the banks of river Narmada in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh.

It was the capital of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar, who revived its glory and promoted Maheshwari weaving here.

The fort has beautiful ghats, temples, and intricate architecture reflecting Maratha style.

Ahilyabai Holkar constructed several temples and ghats around the fort making Maheshwar a spiritual & cultural hub.

Maheshwari sarees were first promoted and woven here under Ahilyabai’s patronage in the 18th century.

Films like Bajirao Mastani and Padman have also been shot here, showcasing its timeless beauty.
