Mamata Reddy is renowned for reviving the beautiful craft of Kalamkari. She has been innovating the technique of Kalamkari to create something that is very unusual yet in vogue. She has been working with ace designers like Sabyasachi, Rohit Bal, Gaurang Shah, Shashikant Naidu, Madhu Jain, etc. to give them kalamkari that is at par with the trends.

We are very glad to introduce Suryakant Rout, as a member of the Kalam Creations family. A fashion designer and textile enthusiast Suryakant’s journey started with deep ethnicity and heritage from him hometown Cuttack, Odisha. He went onto formal design education at Whistling Woods International, Mumbai and worked with renown figures Gaurang Shah and Neeta Lulla.
Coming from a rich tapestry of experiences in the realm of textiles and fashion, He aspires to proliferate regional crafts and historical tapestry stories, celebrating the profound cultural diversity of the motherland.

As an act of preservation of as many crafts as we can, Kalam Creations collaborated with Suryakant to develop an exclusive line of Pattchitra sarees. We took Kanjeevarams and Telangana Ikat’s and had the artisans paint their folklore tales.

The line will be available in India and USA. Stay tuned for the drop!

Through the journey of Kalam Creations I have lived out of taking suitcases for wholesale or doing exhibitions for retail. I knew that once all the artist families had built their houses and settled in, I wanted to build an artist residence and store front space for kalam creations.
We inaugurate with a humble natural dye workshop. Experts from the field came to teach young minds and the next generation.

We can’t wait to share more, but for now counting our blessings and groundings.

30 years ago I bought a textile book that was then unaffordable to this brand because of my father and he has been with us through our journey. From travelling with me for exhibitions in the early years, to later doing accounts, deliveries and operations; kalam creations is because of and with him.

My father chose the day of Vaikunta Ekadasi to leave this mortal world. He passed away gently and in peace.

I grieve with kin, but also carry him within my heart and brand.
We are holding a prayer meet on December 29th in his remembrance.
