Set up in 1962, MIDC is the arm of Government of Maharashtra that carries out activities under the framework of “Maharashtra Industrial Development Act 1961”. Its activities are divided in 3 broad categories, namely
• Acquisition and disposal of land.
• Provision of infrastructure facilities.
• Providing services — supply of water, electricity, effluent treatment plants, maintaining roads, street

lights, and drainage lines among others. Since its conception, MIDC has built 225 industrial complexes and has a land bank of 84000 hectares, developed specialized parks for different industrial sectors, including IT, BT, wine (grape processing) Park, Silver Zone, gems and jewelry, textiles, leather, chemical industry, electronics, food processing, floriculture to name a few. It has successfully managed to create an elaborate network of industrial & domestic water supply, for its industrial parks.
