The Farkabadi shalwar- A Lighter Heirloom
Rooted in the legacy of Farakhabadi craft from Uttar Pradesh, this salwar revisits a form historically known for its richness and density. We’ve seen our mothers, dadi’s, nani’s wear it. Most of us have even inherited these. The idea was to create something light yet magical and wearable.
Floral jaal emerges across our collection keeping the season in mind. The pattern seems to grow across fabric. (Pink, gold, green, white and pink salwar)
Each shalwar is entirely handcrafted by karigars, shaped over time rather than rushed.
Nearly two months of continuous making, where process becomes as important as the final form.
There is a considered interplay of materials—cottons with silks, sheers with denser weaves—reflecting the shift in season. For the work I’ve used is “dabka, nakshi, sequin, moti, zari” and more.
