Collection No. 24 | Ladakhi Pashmina × Mulberry Silk
This collection began with an exploration of two fibres very different in character, Ladakhi Pashmina and Mulberry Silk.
Some materials reveal themselves in what they share with another. Ladakhi Pashmina is prized for its exceptional fineness and warmth, while Mulberry Silk brings fluidity, lightness and a natural lustre to the weave.
At around 14 microns, the fine Pashmina fibre offers remarkable softness without losing its warmth. Mulberry Silk has its own inherent luminosity, created by the way the structure of its filament reflects light, giving the fibre its characteristic gentle shimmer.
Brought together in a twill weave structure, the two fibres retain their distinct qualities while creating something new between them. The resulting fabric finds a balance between the warmth and softness of Pashmina and the movement and sheen of silk.
Colour became another part of this exploration. The yarns are slowly dyed using natural dyes, including natural indigo, allowing each shade to settle into the character of the new fabric. Indigo, with its deep roots in the textile traditions and cultural history of India, brings another layer to the collection. Across the palette, the colours shift and deepen, revealing subtle variations that emerge through a slow and considered process.
