VAAMÉ — The Beginning
VAAMÉ began with an idea.
An idea to look beyond labels and discover the truth behind every handcrafted textile.
When I started researching Kashmiri textiles, I realized how difficult it had become to find genuine craftsmanship.
People were calling any soft wool Pashmina.
Machine-made Kani was being sold as handwoven.
Machine embroidery was being passed off as hand Sozni.
I knew that if VAAMÉ was going to stand for authenticity, I had to go to the source.
So I travelled to Kashmir — not just to curate beautiful textiles, but to understand the craft, to meet the artisans, to witness the weaving, and to learn the stories behind every thread.
That journey changed the way I look at handcrafted textiles.
And that’s where the story of VAAMÉ truly began.
