Featuring Santiniketan’s very own Samik Ghosh, former principal of The Scindia School, Gwalior and former Dean of Boys' Department at The Lawrence School, Sanawar.
A distinguished academician with a career spanning four decades, Samik/ Kukul da has always been a patron and practitioner of the arts—music, poetry, theatre, and dance.
His connection to art and culture runs deep. He is the nephew of Santidev Ghosh, handpicked by Rabindranath Tagore, while still a teenager, to teach at Santiniketan and sent across India and Southeast Asia to further his education in the arts. Another uncle, Sagarmoy Ghosh, was the legendary editor of Desh, the iconic Bengali literary journal.
The shawl Samik da wears in these photographs is a handmade, quilted kantha piece, crafted with patience and care.
