A Dhakai Jamdani saree (literally sourced from Dhaka, Bangladesh) which is woven in certain pockets of today’s Bangladesh is a heirloom saree that is meant to be flaunted.

The colour of this gheecha tussar saree is something caught my attention when I was adding this to my collection. And believe me, so many have appreciated the colour in the past that this saree is very close to me.
Gheecha tussars have become super costly these days. In February when I asked a shopkeeper in Gariahat market, he quoted 8500 for the same gheecha tussar saree, just in a different colour.
You can ask me the price and see at what price I am selling this beauty. You won’t regret I promise.
Just a post script: No AI or filter is used while shooting this saree. The saree looks exact same during daylight.

Saada-laal paar saree (white with red border) has almost become synonymous with pujo. Ask any Bengali Hindu woman, they will have at least one saada-laal paar saree in their cupboard, be it a powerloom-made or handloom, which they will wear in auspicious occasions.
With this thought we have added this original (special emphasis on this) Dhakai Jamdani saree with traditional motifs to our collection. The best part is, the body is not plain white, it has multicoloured diamond motifs across.

No matter how long paras do I write, that would not be enough for her. She is the one who took me to Majuli, world’s largest river island and introduced me to the magical world of handloom.
She was the inspiration behind building Jomeen. She taught me how indigenous life looks like. How women struggle and win and lose baffles in the hinterland of the country.
Jomeen came into being because she would tell me stories about weavers’ lives. She introduced me to the world of a different Assamese community.
I owe a lot to her. the dearest friend of mine from Assam is seen in a handpicked Begumpuri saree from West Bengal. 100% handloom with handloom mark on it.

PS: This is not a collaborative post. This is a post of gratitude. For your information, she bought 3 sarees with the blink of an eye from Jomeen. Once again thank you my dear friend.

We can’t thank enough Mr Amar Mukherjee for sharing this gorgeous photograph of him in our Jamdani punjabi material. It was a customised piece and Amar chose it for his birthday. Unfortunately, due to flooding in Silchar, my hometown, this punjabi material reached him really late.
We are glad that Amar could make it for Durga Puja and he looks handsome in this ethnic wear.
