Tradwea Story
The Indian tradition & the various cultures dating back to several 100 years. There are so many to name, who have shaped the generations. The clothes played an important role in the bonding the tradition and the lifestyle. The clothes were very closely related to the culture and heritage of various sections of the people living in different areas. The clothes, the materials, the designs, the colors, the patterns were all influenced by the area, culture and the people there. The Indian culture has a rich tradition of clothing & related accessories that were far superior to many other regions of the world.
The Spark
We got a thought? Why can’t we try and bring back the traditional clothing to the present generation, perhaps so many of them are not familiar with the traditional items. That fuelled us for connecting the age-old cloth traditions and bringing it to the new generation through the internet-connected world at an affordable price.
The Journey
The idea / the requirement was just a one-liner but the materializing it involved a lot of research and hard work. Even though we are into the traditional weaving business for more than 50 years in traditional clothing, we wanted to bring in designs/work from different parts of India and that too suitable for the tropical climate of Trivandrum. The journey involved miles and miles travel across the country in search for genuine items, the truth is that only 1 or 3 out of 10 are genuine, others are just imitations. The search for the genuine, original traditional clothing brought us close with so many weavers who are into the weaving profession for generations together and who are still running the weaving work along with a regular income work. The weaving work which they do were learned from their forefathers. Some of the weavers are from the fifth generations & they are into the business for more than 150 years. The journey is still going on and the catalyst is a never-ending passion for traditions. So here we bring back the traditional clothing in its pure & raw form directly from the weavers.
So WHY Traditions? What is the difference? Why such hype?
Yes, there is a difference. We are different.
