The women of Iran are risking their lives in protests against the government of the Islamic republic so they can regain their basic human rights, among them, the freedom of expression to dress as they choose. As an Iranian born, American designer, I can not imagine having that taken away from me. What we wear is the most basic form of self expression, and show of our values as individuals. No one should be forced to live in silence. I stand with the women of Iran.

Throughout my design career, one of the greatest honors I received was the opportunity to sit for the most iconic talents in fashion photography. was one who was truly as warm and gracious, as he was talented. He came to photograph me at home, years ago for and left me his autographed Polaroids as a souvenir of our time together. His team spent hours setting up before he arrived, but when he came, he just took my hand and walked me to a window, pulled up a chair and asked my to sit. He knew how to use the natural light. I loved his instinct to capture the moment as it was, not forced or posed, just me as I really lived at that time in my life. I’ll treasure them always ❤️
