NYU Florence NYU Florence NYU Florence offers a broad range of courses, with a strong focus on the humanities and social sciences.

The curriculum takes advantage of the extraordinary cultural resources provided by the city of Florence and its strategic position within Italy and Europe and also offers a unique array of cocurricular lectures and activities. Altogether, the Florence campus is a dynamic center for scholarly exchange and global policy discussions. Here, business and prelaw students can participate in high-level po

litical dialogues, while art history and fashion students find inspiration on every corner. Courses are taught in English, but the Italian Studies program creates a path to fluency for students who prioritize language study.

Villa La Pietra, New York University’s campus nestled in the hills of Florence and Fiesole, will stage its 20th season of artistic performances and exhibitions this late spring and summer. Many events take place, followed by an aperitivo, in the villa’s gorgeous gardens, which date back to the 15th century and were beautifully restored and updated by the Acton family, owners of La Pietra until Sir Harold Acton bequeathed the property to NYU in the early 1990s.

At Villa La Pietra, a summer series brings an ample arts programme and aperitivo evenings to the Renaissance gardens.

As the Spring 2026 semester comes to a close, we would like to acknowledge the role our students have played within the Florence community.

This semester, 86 students engaged in community based initiatives, with 70 contributing on a weekly basis alongside our local partner organizations. Together, they contributed approximately 600 hours of volunteer service throughout the semester. Through their work, they supported educational activities, social inclusion, cultural heritage projects, environmental care, and services for vulnerable members of the community.

These efforts are part of an ongoing commitment to building meaningful, reciprocal relationships with the city of Florence, strengthening connections between NYU Florence and the local community and contributing in a concrete way to its social and cultural fabric.

We are grateful for the dedication and responsibility our students have shown throughout the semester!

When you explore one of the leather goods capitals of the world, you’ll find plenty to do. However, how can we ensure that our activities are sustainable? In celebration of Earth Week, our students collaborated with local artisans at Zerolab () to create their own bags using leather waste.
