l 1972 presenta la prima collezione a Palazzo Pitti a Firenze. Da quel momento assume una dimensione internazionale, presentando le sue collezioni oltre che in Italia, anche in Francia, in Messico ed in Spagna. Nei primi primi anni ottanta diventa direttore artistico della maison Balenciaga. Nel 1984 rientra in Italia per aprire due nuovi atelier in società con Luigi Valietti. Nel 1991, debutta sulle passerelle romane dell'alta moda e nel 1995 sfila per la prima volta con una linea di prêt-à-porter sulle passerelle milanesi. Durante questi anni presenta regolarmente le sue creazioni di Alta Moda nella manifestazione Alta Roma. Dedito da sempre all'alta moda è conosciuto in modo particolare per l'esclusività delle sue creazioni e per la sua tradizione nel disegnare abiti da sposa che chiudono per tradizione tutte le sue sfilate. Nel corso degli anni ha creato abiti per personaggi famosi del jet set e dello spettacolo come Isabella Rossellini, Penélope Cruz, Emmanuelle Seigner, Carmen Maura, Lana Marks, Whitney Houston, Jerry Hall, Chiara Mastroianni, Ivana Trump, Mafalda d'Aosta, la principessa Claude de France, e tanti altri. Nel 2012, al fianco della principessa Carolina di Monaco, è nella presidenza del concorso La Chasuble du Centenaire, manifestazione annuale che premia la miglior casula presso la Cattedrale dell'Immacolata Concezione nel Principato di Monaco. Lorenzo Riva was born in Monza on October 3, 1938. Since childhood he has been interested in fashion, following his mother, a mannequin who dabbled in tailoring. At eighteen he opened his first atelier, involving his mother and three sisters as models of his first creations. After having frequented and been inspired by artists such as Enrico Baj, Lucio Fontana and Mimmo Rotella, in 1972 he presented his first collection at Palazzo Pitti in Florence. From that moment it assumes an international dimension, presenting its collections not only in Italy, but also in France, Mexico and Spain. In the early eighties he became the artistic director of the Balenciaga maison. In 1984 he returned to Italy to open two new ateliers in partnership with Luigi Valietti. In 1991, he made his début on the Roman catwalks of high fashion and in 1995 he paraded for the first time with a prêt-à-porter line on the Milanese catwalks. During these years he regularly presents his Haute Couture creations in the Alta Roma event. Always devoted to high fashion, he is known in a particular way for the exclusivity of his creations and for his tradition in designing wedding dresses that traditionally close all his fashion shows. Over the years he has created clothes for famous personalities of the jet set and entertainment such as Isabella Rossellini, Penélope Cruz, Emmanuelle Seigner, Carmen Maura, Lana Marks, Whitney Houston, Jerry Hall, Chiara Mastroianni, Ivana Trump, Mafalda d'Aosta, la Princess Claude de France, and many others. In 2012, alongside Princess Caroline of Monaco, he was in the presidency of the La Chasuble du Centenaire competition, an annual event that awards the best chasuble at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in the Principality of Monaco.
