“The New Regeneration” documentary preview

Last season, we took you on a journey along the “Cashmere Trail” to learn more about the process behind creating the “softest fiber in the world” and to share with you a complete documentation of each step undertaken.

This is the beginning of a new journey. This time, the story unfolds in the heart of Ningbo, which means “calm waves” in Chinese, reflecting the saying “a calm sea produces calm waves.”

Here, we take a step forward, venturing into our long-awaited fiber regeneration, to explore the possibility of regenerative yarn production.

And we step backward, into the history of Ningbo’s arts and crafts, which flourished during the Northern Song dynasty period, fueling our imagination during our creative residency in the city.

Drawing inspiration from such a rich artistic heritage, Vitelli’s experimental regenerative design and Consinee’s spinning technology finally joined forces.
For the first time, we embarked on making our own yarn, and we did it in the most responsibly innovative manner.

What you are about to watch is a full documentation of how we regenerated fibers into new cashmere.

To regenerate cashmere fibers means to save fiber wastage from landfill and turn them into new luxury yarns.

This is not rocket science; most yarn makers could adopt our practice as a “protocol” for a more sustainable and profitable future of knitwear. We hope this documentary will encourage the better use of premium quality waste for both our fellow responsible designers and suppliers around the world.

“The New Regeneration” at

Our first regenerative yarn collection, inspired by Northern Song arts and crafts, comes to life as an exhibition featuring Hanfu-style outerwear and “ceremonial” dresses, reinterpreted through our lens as non-native designers.

All garments are made with our Vitelli + Consinee 100% regenerated fiber cashmere yarn, spun at the factory in Ningbo and knitted in Milano📍 We continually aim to showcase how creativity can be inspired by “waste” rather than contributing to it. While building upon our regenerative protocol season after season, our message is clear: use premium leftover as a main source for design, let your design be informed by it, and always seek more responsible alternatives 💚

We are proud to introduce our first YARN COLLECTION, created from beautiful and high-quality leftover fibers that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill ♻️

Our goal was to weave cosmic vibes into every thread. Staying true to our belief in the potential of cultural hybridization and the ceremonial beauty of traditional craft, we drew inspiration from the hues of Celadon ceramics, the brushstrokes of Shan Shui paintings, the needlework of Bian embroidery, and the timeless artistry of Wa Pan tiling from Zhenhai province—a regenerative building technique dating back to the 10th century ♾️

These treasures from the Chinese Northern Song era (960–1127 CE) inspired our first exploration of the essence of fibers.

We continually aim to showcase how creativity can be inspired by “waste” rather than contributing to it. While building upon our regenerative protocol season after season, our message is clear: use premium leftover as a main source for design, let your design be informed by it, and always seek more responsible alternatives 💚

Less waste, more cosmic.

“OVERLAND TO ORDOS”

inspired by a legendary journey from West Germany to Inner Mongolia, circa 1961, made by a group of Hamburg’s “existentialists” - members of the original “EXIS” youth scene.

On their way back, a few EXIS settled down in Kathmandu and opened the infamous “german” pastry-shop-turned-speakeasy club The Bakery, a nightly gathering spot for diverse communities, as reported by many travelers of the Hippie Trail and depicted in the Hindi film ‘Hare Rama’ (1971).

The story of Exis “on the road” to Mongolia informed the utility-inspired aesthetics of the collection and the evocative set photographed by Federica Sasso, styled by Patrick Clark starring Patrick, Sun, Lyana, Kaleem, Cristina and Nazareno💚

In 2024, our regenerative practices will expand beyond yarns and return to the source — FIBER ♻️

We are proud to present CASHMERE TRAIL: A VITELLI JOURNEY BEYOND THREADS directed by and curated by , with the support of

Our first joining-of-hands with renowned yarn makers Consinee gave us the chance to journey along the cashmere trail — from Ningbo to Inner Mongolia — and document the making of the softest fiber in the world.

For the occasion joined us for a special photo story, now printed as a limited edition zine - 200 numbered copies.

Through the eye of one of the most authentic portrait photographers in the fashion and non-fashion scene today, the images of the cashmere trail reveal the unexpected convergences of nature and technology, breeding and manufacturing, traditional farming and automated factoring.

The Consinee X Vitelli capsule collection entirely made with recycled and deadstock cashmere yarns will be presented at Paris Men’s Fashion Week as part of our FW24 collection
