A mano, by hand. I like to design and make by instinct, and as one of the many decisions for this coat was how to fasten the collar. It doesn’t particularly need fastening, and I could have gone with the massive button option (I have a collection of beautiful vintage buttons - can never resist) but then I found this little pearly number. I paired it with a hand stitched linen loop - and that is all the detail I need.
This NANCY trench coat variation is available to order. Length is important as is the width, depending on if you prefer it belted or not. You may like the sailor collar - I leant into some kind of grad gown/sailor hybrid - or you may prefer it collar free. The lining? I’m yet to share the vintage pattern used on this sample but the lining always brings joy and the bonus of custom orders is that you are part of the process too.
I do have a selection of coats available off the peg. Please visit my website to see. And in the spirit of sharing, if any of my followers wouldn’t mind sharing/tagging this post with likeminded coat, 1950s, hand made, trench coat loving friends - as a one-woman boutique operation, who would rather be making than marketing, I would be so grateful. Coming up, I would like to offer one of my JAN coats at a super sample price but hope to get my audience up beforehand! Thank you for any support as always. 💝💝💝
