Andrew MacKenzie

Andrew MacKenzie *1954; Llanelli, Wales. Exuberant Welsh designer known for consulting jeanswear giants and for his own jeans and prêt-à-porter collections.

After studying at the London College of Fashion Technology, he worked for international prêt-à-porter and haute couture collections in the Œ70s and Œ80s, then moved to Italy where he opened a design studio. His clients included jeanswear Katharine Hamnett, Converse All Star, Ferré Jeans, Calvin Klein Jeans and collaborations with Adriano Goldschmied and Fiorucci. At the end of the Œ90s, he launche

d a prêt-à-porter collection for women and men that carried his name. Erotic clichés, narrow cuts, sexy hot pants, strong colors and fun jeans that gave wearer a bow-legged look were hallmarks of the collection. In 2005, he launched the super-niche brand Against My Killer, a collection that bears his initials and is produced now and co-owned by MODA ITALIA S.R.L. In 2007, the designer started a collaboration with the Einstein Prodotti & Progetti S.p.a, at the same time he presented at Copenhagen Fashion Week the documentary Bible Black, a fashion road movie of the last five days of frenzy leading to his spectacular come back-show after his absence from the runways of Milan for half a decade. Andrew Mackenzie carries an aura of authenticity and depth that is unmatched in fashion today. His work is a provocative vision of decadence, depravity, attitude, uninhibited sexuality and dark beauty.
