Esattamente un anno fa a quest'ora eravamo nel backstage ad organizzare lo show che sarebbe andato live da lì a poco.

Nel backstage ci sono sempre mille emozioni e sono tutte condite con l'adrenalina e l'ansia nel sapere se la collezione piacerà.

Quando disegno e penso ad uno show quello che ho in mente è creare emozione e bellezza.

Dobbiamo esercitare gli occhi ad osservare bellezza e a nutrirsi di bellezza.
La bellezza dei colori, la bellezza della fluidità dei tessuti, la bellezza di un abito inaspettato, la bellezza di un sorriso.
Sono certa che con la bellezza vivremmo in un mondo migliore.

Exactly one year ago at this time we were backstage organizing the show that would go live shortly thereafter.

Backstage there are always a thousand emotions and they are all seasoned with adrenaline and anxiety in knowing if the collection will be liked.

When I design and think of a show, what I have in mind is to create emotions and beauty.
We must train our eyes to observe beauty and to feed on beauty.

The beauty of the colors, the beauty of the fluidity of the fabrics, the beauty of an unexpected dress, the beauty of a smile.

I am sure that with beauty we would live in a better world.

February 2020 fashion show

7 years ago today, the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed and took the lives of at least 1,134 people and injured another ~2,500. Most of the victims were young women and they were making clothes for some of the biggest fashion brands in the world.
In the days and hours that preceded this tragedy, cracks appeared in the building walls and workers expressed their fears. Management told the workers to return to work, even when the retail shops and banks on the ground floor of the complex closed. It wasn’t just managers, but lurking order deadlines and production quotas from powerful corporations that lead to these workers being sent back inside. It was the insatiable fashion industry that forced these garment workers to keep working. And it was the lack of union representation that left these workers powerless to defy orders.
These workers, some 5,000 of them, worked in fear. And the clothes they made in fear were shipped around the world, to major retailers and fashion brands, and they were bought by us. Though we’ll never know for sure if we bought and wore the products of their fear, we know that even one t-shirt, pair of jeans or dress made in fear is one too many.
There were 29 brands identified in the rubble. It would take years for some of them to pay compensation. For some families, providing DNA evidence to claim that compensation would never be possible. To this day many of the survivors are unemployed and suffer from severe trauma.
Fashion Revolution exists to ensure that no tragedy of this magnitude will ever take place again, and we won’t stop until every garment is made in conditions where workers are safe, fairly treated and free from gender-based violence or harassment. Today we think of the true cost of our clothing. We reflect on the tragedy and we use this momentum to forge ahead and create change. Today we encourage you to ask , and demand answers.

Same dress but different occasions. First picture beautiful during a special dinner in Milan. 2nd and 3rd picture are taken from my lookbook with a very different setting. We decided to shoot in a farm among cows and tractors and I have to say that I loved it!

Con la difficoltà di far la spesa ultimamente mi sa che comincio a coltivare l'orto...ovviamente sempre con un certo stile anche tra i campi e sempre con un cappello per difendermi dal sole! 😉

In this difficult time what we can do is using time for studying and discover new things or processes.

What I would like to show you today is the process from sketching to runway.

It usually takes months to see your vision on a runway but I can assure you that every time is a pure emotion.

After sketching you dive into getting the first sample ready. Usually we do in a white fabric that it is not going to be the final one so we can amend shapes or proportions without damaging the selected fabric.

Third step is getting the final sample and be ready for the shooting. I love the shooting part because is like a dreaming process when you can create a magical experience or express creativity with no limits. In this case we shoot this dress amoung cows 😊. A real fun! I loved the idea of bringing my pret-a-couture amoung animals - thanks for this.

Sunday funday. Everyone is engaged in something. Baby is colouring and mamy is studying fashion history.

In this moment when everything seems stucked our brain is free to read and study. Read whatever makes you feel happy and free to use your immagination.

These days we have to stay at home.

I am sure that we are spending some of this stay at home time to do some cleaning, so let's do it!

I have read on a newpaper that it is important to keep our routine even if we have to stay home. So let's wear a wonderful dress and our lipstick on and make the best of our day!

What inspired me when I designed these trousers? The idea of lightness and movement.

In this particular moment we have to think positively and not to be overcome by heavy toughts.
