It all began in 1922 in Montappone, in the Marche region, between Fermo and Macerata, when Mr. Attilio Sorbatti and his wife Ester started a tradition that has lasted for over 80 years. From the founder Attilio to his three sons Filippo, Ermanno and Nerino, and on to the third generation: his grandsons Marco and Attilio. Over the years, the company has steadily grown while remaining family-run.
From its original character as a manufactory, which remains fundamental, the hat factory has evolved into a modern, dynamic industry for hats and caps, deeply rooted in the entrepreneurial tradition of the Marche.
High professionalism, operational flexibility and dynamism are the strengths on which Sorbatti bases its philosophy as a manufacturer, in a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and technology, passion and expertise.
Sorbatti srl is also specialized in customizing its hats and caps with logos and brands supplied by the customer.

La Persistenza della memoria, Salvador Dalì. 🕰️ ☁️

Nel 1931 Dalì dipinge il tempo che si scioglie.
I suoi orologi molli non sono rotti, sono liberati. Ci dicono che il tempo non è rigido, non è come lo misuriamo. È molle, soggettivo, si piega alle emozioni, ai sogni, ai ricordi. Cola, ma non scompare.

Cosa persiste, quando tutto intorno si scioglie?
Non persiste l’ora. Persiste la memoria.

In questa foto, il tempo di Dalì cola sul bordo del nostro cappello. Lo avvolge, lo deforma, cerca di scioglierlo. Ma il cappello resta. Solido, reale, fatto a mano.

Perché il surrealismo di Dalì è un sogno.
L’artigianato Sorbatti è ciò che rimane quando ti svegli.

L’orologio si piega.
La memoria di chi siamo, no.

The Persistence of Memory, Salvador Dalí.

In 1931, Dalí painted time melting.
His soft clocks are not broken, they are freed. They tell us that time is not rigid, not as we measure it. It is soft, subjective. It bends to emotions, to dreams, to memories. It drips, but it does not disappear.
What persists when everything around it melts?
It is not the hour that persists. Memory persists.
In this photo, Dalí’s time drips over the brim of our hat. It wraps around it, it deforms it, it tries to melt it. But the hat remains. Solid, real, handmade.
Because Dalí’s surrealism is a dream.
Sorbatti’s craftsmanship is what remains when you wake up.

Yes, but wearing our 𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐈

It is one of the most famous portraits Amedeo Modigliani painted of his muse and partner Jeanne Hébuterne in the last years of his life in Paris.

Modigliani did not paint what he saw, he painted what he felt. That is why the neck is so long, the hand rests on her chin, and the eyes are empty, without pupils. He painted them like that when he did not yet know the soul of his subject in depth.

He used to say: “When I know your soul, I will paint your eyes.” Sometimes he painted Jeanne’s eyes empty, sometimes incredibly intense.

Why the large hat? In 1918 a hat was not just an accessory, it was almost a requirement. We know it well. In 1922 our tradition began.

Modigliani painted it.
We craft it.

È uno dei ritratti più famosi di Amedeo Modigliani che fece alla sua musa e compagna Jeanne Hébuterne negli ultimi anni della sua vita a Parigi.
Modigliani non dipingeva quello che vedeva, dipingeva quello che sentiva. Per questo: il collo è lunghissimo, la mano è poggiata sul mento e gli occhi sono vuoti, senza pupille. Li faceva così quando non conosceva ancora a fondo l’anima del soggetto.

Diceva: “Quando conoscerò la tua anima, dipingerò i tuoi occhi”. A Jeanne, a volte glieli dipingeva vuoti, a volte intensissimi.

Perché il cappello grande? Nel 1918 il cappello non era soltanto un accessorio, ma era quasi un obbligo. Noi lo sappiamo bene. Nel 1922 inizia la nostra tradizione.

Modigliani lo dipingeva.
Noi lo produciamo.

Surrealismo, ma a modo nostro.

Tutto è iniziato davanti a un quadro.
La Décalcomanie di René Magritte, 1966: l’uomo con la bombetta che osserva un cielo di nuvole, con una baguette e un bicchiere sulla schiena.

Magritte metteva il surreale nella normalità. Noi mettiamo l’artigianato nell’arte.
