Manteco

Manteco Italian Premium Textiles and Circularity since 1943. Manteco is the leading textile company for sustainability and high-quality fabrics since 1943.

It was first established as a small spinning mill by Enzo Anacleto Mantellassi, who started the production of sustainable yarns by regenerating old military garments and covers. And as the years passed, it has become a point of reference in the fashion world, thanks to a high level of creativity, smart and constant research, investments and great textile solutions. In our long history, we have con

stantly pursued the objectives of growth and expansion, always with an eye to enhancing our values of sustainability, innovative solutions and improving our flagship zero-waste system, our sustainable design and traceable circular economy projects. Manteco is adhering to the principles of the UN Agenda 2030 for sustainable development and was the first textile company to ever apply a science-based LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study on its luxury recycled wools. Behind our green approach and premium quality fabrics, there are generations of know-how, heritage and our fully traceable and transparent Manteco System, a network of local artisans and small companies that follow our precise Supply Chain Commitments and high production standards.

BiGala®, our iconic double fabric, is currently displayed at the Galleria in Casa Manteco.

Born from a patented, splittable double construction, it allows for invisible or reversible finishes, giving tailored garments an extra-fine appearance and exceptional fluidity and drape.

A perfect balance of innovation and craftsmanship, BiGala® is crafted using Manteco’s signature MWool® and ReviWool® fibers.

MWool® is our signature fiber rewriting the rules of recycled wool.

It delivers the same exceptional softness and durability as conventional virgin wool, making absolutely no compromises on performance—yet its overall environmental impact is scientifically certified to be reduced by 99.3%.
This responsible cycle is completed by our patented Recype® method: instead of dyeing the fabric from scratch, we blend pre- and post-consumer colored fibers through a high-precision mechanical process. The result is a seamless, vibrant, and completely unique nuance.

CEO Marco Mantellassi shares his favorite piece from Galleria Manteco: an original 1941 military blanket.

A piece that traces the origins of Manteco’s story — a symbol of protection, care, and connection across cultures. It was from blankets like this, recovered and regenerated, that founder Enzo Anacleto Mantellassi created new material, laying the foundations for a company built on innovation and respect for matter.

Franco Mantellassi, president of Manteco, shares the story behind the Lion of Saint Mark-an element of Manteco’s heraldic crest, once also used as the company’s door handle.

The Lion tearing the fabric becomes a powerful visual metaphor for Manteco: it reflects regenerated textiles and the continuous transformation of matter, from end-of-life materials to new and valuable expressions.

The concept of “famiglia allargata”is central to Casa Manteco.

When we speak of family, we refer to all the collaborators, artisans, and individuals who have contributed their energy, soul, and expertise day after day, shaping Manteco into what it is today.
