Pair of ex-Bauer Hotel Murano glass Leaf Wall lights, attributed to Seguso Vetri d’Arte, Venice, 1950s.
An exceptional pair of Sculptural Seguso Leaf Shaped Murano glass wall appliques hand-blown with transparent twisted glass interwoven with gold leaf. The bespoke elongated leaf‑like forms and fine internal texture are typical of the mid‑century commissions made by the master glassmakers Seguso Vetri d’Arte under the designer, Flavio Poli. They were removed from the Bauer Hotel, Venice, during its recent renovation.
The Bauer Hotel (Bauer Palazzo) is one of Venice’s historic five‑star Grand Canal hotels, founded in 1880 and extensively refurbished in the mid‑20th century when owner Arnaldo Bennati engaged architect Marino Meo and master glassmakers Seguso Vetri d’Arte under designer Flavio Poli to create bespoke lighting for the interiors. The hotel’s Murano glass fittings remained in situ until its closure in 2022 for a major renovation, after which many items – including numerous Murano glass lights – were dispersed via auction and private sale.

This pair was acquired in Italy from my source in Murano who acquired a number of pieces. He has remodelled the brassware for modern use and the lights are now in good working order and wired for the EU.

30 Piece, 1920s Barovier Blue Hand-blown Red, White & Dessert Wine Glasses (Set of 10)

An incredibly rare set of thirty 1920s Murano Red, White and Dessert Wine Glasses individually hand-blown in a luminous Barovier blue. Each historic piece is delicately thin-walled with an elegant baluster stem. This saturated blue tone is closely associated with the Venetian Barovier production. It was likely made as a special commission for a Venetian family in the 1920s. Ideal for collectors and hosts alike, this set is perfect for a dining table of ten. All pieces are in good vintage condition.

A beautiful Italian bronze statue of a greyhound. Found in Todi, this wonderful cast bronze dog has a kind face and stands 83cm tall. He looks superb by a fireplace or in an entrance hall. True of all of our pieces but in particular this chap, 'seeks a loving home'.

A Perfectly Unmatching Set of 8 1950s Multicolour Hand-blown Murano Glass Fruit Plates signed Seguso on the base. These exquisite plates were not originally a set but rather individually hand-blown in different colours and with very slightly different weights, shapes and sizes. These medium sized plates are perfect for salad or for fruit. The 'set' look wonderful on a white table cloth on a summer table.

Provenance. Somewhere on Murano, behind an unmarked door, an old furnace keeps a warehouse of unopened boxes. A dear friend recently took me to this top secret location and inside, we found what Venice forgot: one‑off Murano coupes, flutes and candelabra and decanters. Inside each box were the forgotten pieces from Venice’s great glass houses: small remainders from closed furnaces and shops, carefully wrapped and then abandoned. Sitting on the cement floor, we unwrapped them one by one. Each parcel revealed a single hand‑blown coupe, prosecco flute, plate, candelabra, decanter or aperitivo glass – no pairs, no sets, just lone masterpieces.
