POPE LEO AND OUR FIGURINE 😵‍💫🥴😶🫨🥲
Do you see this??? Because we still can’t wrap our heads around it!!!

Pope Leo XIV has just received the “Papa Leone” figurine made by Vatican Design, and it was certainly something he did not expect! Not only because it’s amusing to see yourself as a figurine (😅), but also because it came with a whole set of accessories: a mini exhortation Dilexi Te, his favorite Chicago pizza, and an Americano coffee!!!

Let us just add that all of this happened on the 45th anniversary of the assassination attempt on John Paul II and on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima! A coincidence? We don’t think so!!!

And of course, words of appreciation for our brave intermediary! You can always count on Polish scouts! Thanks, Alinka!

The same day.

May 13, 1981. St. Peter’s Square.

Thousands gathered for the Wednesday audience… and then suddenly, gunshots shattered the silence.

Exactly 45 years ago today, an assassin opened fire on Pope John Paul II at point-blank range, striking him multiple times in the chest and abdomen in front of the entire world. Panic erupted across the Vatican as the Pope collapsed into the arms of those around him.

For hours, the world waited in fear as surgeons fought to save his life in a desperate operation that lasted over five hours. Many called it a miracle. John Paul II himself would later say:

“One hand fired, another guided the bullet.”

Doctors later admitted they could barely believe he survived. What was supposed to become one of the darkest assassinations in modern history instead became one of the most mysterious survival stories ever witnessed by the world.

45 years later, the attack on Pope John Paul II still sends chills down people’s spines.

DESIGN WON’T SAVE THE WORLD...
Because Jesus already did! But that doesn’t mean visual arts aren’t important — quite the opposite!

The Church needs good design because it’s the fastest and most expressive form of communication 😇🙏💪

We have a serious problem with how certain things look in the Church.

It really pains us to see kitsch, bad taste, and cheap plastic tackiness 🥲 especially in a place like the Vatican.

OUR BIG LOVE 🥰
Can we still call Pope Leo XIV the new pope, now that a year has passed? 🤔
How much good has happened in that time! How much good has been poured out! Thanks be to God!

For us, the most moving moments—besides the papal election itself, of course, because that's beyond competition—are the Corpus Christi procession, where no one expected the pope 😍 and those surprise meetings during the Youth Jubilee, when Leo suddenly dropped in for a meeting for digital missionaries (that included us 🤭) or decided to take his popemobile for a ride outside the Vatican, all the way to Castel Sant'Angelo 😇

And we are immensely grateful for his smile and the gentleness with which he speaks simply, clearly, yet firmly about the Gospel being this way and that's it.

So may peace be with you all!

⬛Today marks the first anniversary of the death of Pope Francis. This past year has made us realize how much we miss him. Can you miss someone you never even knew personally? You can—because Francis was simply close to us.

❤️We loved his spontaneity, openness, and enthusiasm. Many people were irritated, saying that certain things were not fitting for a pope—but hey, who sets the rules in the Vatican? Pope Francis showed that not everything has to be rigid and formal, and that a dignified ministry can be carried out in an unconventional, free-spirited way.

🤫That is precisely why he was so dangerous. That is why so many tried to stop him and silence him—not with bullets in St. Peter’s Square, as happened to John Paul II, but through a wave of anti-Francis propaganda that criticized his every decision and statement.

Personally, we owe Francis a great deal.

👉It was he who chose Kraków as the location for World Youth Day, where my husband and I met—and six months later, he blessed our family.

👉When we were immersed in grief after the death of Matias, a graphic designer from our Kraków committee, Francis unexpectedly began a gathering with a moment of silence and prayer for a young volunteer. It was a deeply personal experience for us.

👉And finally, it was one of Pope Francis’s last decisions to lease the premises on Borgo Santo Spirito, where our shop is now located. Thanks to that, we were able to be in Rome for his funeral, say our final goodbye in the Basilica, and later watch the conclave and the election of the new Pope Leo.

😭Do we miss him? Very much.
We are deeply grateful for his life.

P.S. We first published the “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” poster on the day he was elected to the See of Peter. When we learned of his death, we shared it once again—this time removing the “don’t.” Because the passing of a great man brings many tears.
