Con Giorgio Armani il Teatro alla Scala perde un sostenitore appassionato e un interlocutore con cui abbiamo condiviso storia, progetti e una comune visione della creatività e dei valori della Città di Milano.
Nel 1997, in occasione della costituzione della Fondazione, Giorgio Armani era stato tra i primi a sostenerla. Nel 2021 era tornato a fianco del Teatro come Fondatore Sostenitore in un momento particolarmente delicato per il mondo dello spettacolo, dando un contributo importante alla ripartenza dopo la pandemia. Inoltre dal 2023 Giorgio Armani era Honorary Member della “Teatro alla Scala Association of America”.
“Lo avevo incontrato in occasione dell’ultimo Gala Fracci – ha ricordato il Sovrintendente Fortunato Ortombina – e mi aveva dato il benvenuto alla Scala con un calore che era anche sguardo al futuro. Giorgio Armani per la Scala non è stato solo un sostenitore ma un amico in cui abbiamo trovato la stessa dedizione all’eccellenza e lo stesso slancio verso una dimensione internazionale. Un simbolo che ha saputo incarnare le energie migliori della nostra città”.
Questa sera, in occasione del concerto della London Symphony Orchestra diretta da Sir Antonio Pappano, la sala osserverà un minuto di silenzio.
Il Teatro alla Scala dedicherà a Giorgio Armani la serata inaugurale della Stagione di Balletto 2025/2026 il prossimo 18 dicembre con La bella addormentata di Čaikovskij nella coreografia di Rudolf Nureyev.

In 1997, at the time of the establishment of the Foundation, Giorgio Armani was among the first to support it. In 2021, he once again stood by the Theater as a Founding Supporter at a particularly delicate moment for the world of the performing arts, making an important contribution to the recovery after the pandemic. Furthermore, since 2023 Giorgio Armani had been an Honorary Member of the “Teatro alla Scala Association of America.”
“I met him on the occasion of the most recent Fracci Gala,” recalled General Manager Fortunato Ortombina, “and he welcomed me to La Scala with a warmth that was also a gaze toward the future. For La Scala, Giorgio Armani was not only a supporter but a friend, in whom we found the same dedication to excellence and the same drive toward an international dimension. A symbol who was able to embody the best energies of our city.”
This evening, on the occasion of the London Symphony Orchestra concert conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, the hall will observe a minute of silence.
Teatro alla Scala will dedicate to Giorgio Armani the opening night of the 2025/2026 Ballet Season on December 18, with The Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky in Rudolf Nureyev’s choreography.
