In my cosplay lineup for Anime North Texas, I am prioritizing comfort, so I will be in outfits with flat heels until the evening of the cosplay contest. For presenting the cosplay contest as part of my judging duties, I will be taking out Naka Kai Ni again. I will not be wearing all the rigging, but even without the rigging the outfit is visually impressive.

I will be in plainclothes on Sunday for the cybersecurity panel.

Friday (likely afternoon): Lucille Ernella - Atelier Escha and Logy
Saturday morning: Akari Mizunashi - Aria
Saturday evening: Naka Kai Ni - Kancolle

The cat has been out of the bag for a while, but I will be at Anime North Texas on August 7th-9th as a cosplay guest. This is the first time I have guested at a convention in the DFW metro area. From my experience, the cosplay scene in the area is absolutely incredible, and I am looking forward to meeting everyone who is entering the cosplay contest.

I will be running two panels at the convention. The first panel will be my circle skirt panel; this will be the second time I've run this panel that explains how to make my favorite kind of skirt. (I make more circle skirts than gathered skirts.) The second panel is a new panel that I have been developing over the past few months; I will be covering cybersecurity practices with an emphasis on the cosplay scene. With the explosion of how the Internet has enriched the cosplay scene, cosplayers should be cognizant of their cybersecurity posture in order to remain safe in a chaotic digital world.

Escha Malier's dress is the example I show to people about how I use the ruffler foot for unconventional purposes. In this case, I use it to shape an entire bodice by changing the stitch length, and use it to adjust each row.

It's been a while since I posted a picture of myself as Klaudia Valentz from Atelier Ryza, and I wanted to post this picture because it illustrates very clearly how I do my pleated skirts as it is opened up for this shot.

Most of my pleated skirts are a variant of a circle skirt. This means that all the box pleats that are in both skirts are actually made of individual sectors. So, this means the main part of the pleat is one sector, and the "facing" and inner sides of the pleats are their own separate sector. Therefore, for one pleat, I am sewing together 5 pieces just to start out. This is definitely made easier with a serger if you want a finished seam.

One of my favorite things to do is to use machine embroidery to create detailed scalloped edge effects. This is the overdress on my Sheryl Nome Kindan no Elixir dress. One of my goals on the dress is to implement as many floral and plant themes as possible, so the "scallops" are actually leaves overlaid together. It is a bit fragile as it is done on silk organza, but done properly makes for a great visual effect that can be seen from both far away and close up.

I wanted to post this picture of Ayesha that did for me a couple of years ago. It actually shows very clearly the effects of the modifications I did to the dress so I could wear it ten years after I made the outfit. It is my philosophy that I want to wear my outfits for many years to come, and this is a great example of that.

The big thing is the addition of the back modesty panel with the corset lacing. This gives me a few more inches of waist so I can get into the costume even though I had gained weight. You can see the effects; there is a ribbon that is visible that I used to do the corset lacing, and the original organza overdress is separated at the back seam. Luckily the velvet sash covers the new location of the zipper stop.

The term for the poles that are exposed from the lagoon in Venice unfortunately escapes me. Like the last picture I posted from my Venice shoot, we see the Rialto Bridge, but we did this shot from the opposite side.
