Kati is a designer, who loves sewing and nature- so she connected these two and now designs pieces that are good for Mother Nature. Kati has been sewing one stitch at a time for more than 13 years, when she discovered her passion for sewing as a young girl growing up in Estonia. To practice, Kati would use the fabrics that her family had accumulated in the cupboard, eventually practicing on new fa
brics but the idea of re-using fabrics was always at the back of her mind. Katikat Designs was born and at the core of her business is the main belief of lessening the environmental impact from the clothing industry. Her latest creations are taking pre-loved wool sweaters and turning them into new, colorful and unique coats, all of which was displayed at the Fall 2020 Collective Artists Pop-Up. Inspired by her clients, Kati continues to look for new ways to recycle and re-use clothing. Her values for work are very simple- waste not, reuse when possible and appreciate already created materials. There is too much stuff (and clothes) in our world and her aim is to use materials, that are already there- to reuse clothes, turn them into something more interesting than before. Good quality- she believes that less is more- by opposing to fast fashion, you can have less items, that are with good quality and therefore last longer.
