1999 Land Rover Defender 90
古田さんと愛犬ロビンの愛車は、ワイルドにカスタムされたこのDefender 90。
東京と八ヶ岳、二つの拠点を行き来しながら、この車のある暮らしを楽しんでいらっしゃいます。
いつかは憧れの旧型Defenderを。
そう思い続けていた頃、CRANKのInstagramでこの一台と出会いました。
実際に手にしてみると、乗り味は想像以上に「トラックそのもの」。
それでもいつしか、その感覚さえ心地よくなり、今では普通の車では少し物足りないと感じるほどに。
そして今、新たに思い描いているのが、
この車で全国を巡ること。
「自分には、かなり背伸びをした車でした」
最初はそう話していた古田さん。
モノ（クルマ）から入って、
少しずつ乗り手もそのモノ（クルマ）に似合うようになっていく。
初めてCRANKへお越しいただいた頃と比べ、Defenderの横に立つ古田さんには、どこか落ち着きと自然な自信が加わったように感じました。
車が新しい場所へ連れていき、
新しい時間や出会いを生んでいく。
その変化を拝見できることが、
私たちにとって何よりの喜びです。

Furuta-san and his beloved dog Robin share their life with this wildly customized Defender 90.
Splitting their time between Tokyo and Yatsugatake, they have made this Defender part of their everyday life.
For years, Furuta-san had dreamed of one day owning a classic Defender.
Then he came across this very car on CRANK’s Instagram.
Once behind the wheel, the experience was even more rugged than he had imagined — “like driving a truck.”
Yet, over time, that very character became part of its appeal. Today, ordinary cars somehow no longer feel quite enough.
And now he has another ambition:
to travel across Japan in this Defender.
“This car was quite a stretch for me.”
That was something Furuta-san told us when we first met.
Sometimes we begin with the object — the car —
and little by little, grow into the person who belongs behind its wheel.
Compared with the first time he came to CRANK, Furuta-san now seems to carry a quiet confidence and ease when standing beside his Defender.
A car can take us somewhere new,
bring new experiences into our lives,
and lead to encounters we might otherwise never have had.
For us, there is no greater pleasure than seeing those changes unfold.
