DINING IN THE RIVER || I have wanted to experience dinning experience and today I got a chance to do so. Situated in the cool rural hill of Saint Andrew, there lies a district called Mount James. There, the mind behind decided 6 years ago to launch what is now a monthly ritual - dining in the river. The chef of serves up a variety of delicious foods. The menu is constantly changing and evolving. She introduces international cuisines with a local flair. I had the chance to interview her and she explained the history behind her vision ( watch interview ). Today, she had dishes ranging from seafood to meats with sides. We ordered the BBQ Oxtail with pressed plantains , the tandoori chicken with naan,a mini salad, potato pudding, mango galette and a cold bottle of lemon grass tea. The oxtail was soft and succulent, seasoned to perfection. Next to your grand ma’s oxtail, I challenge you to find one so good. I love Indian food, so it was delightful to see tandoori on the menu. The chicken was flavorful and it came with a spicy dip that went well with the plantains, the naan and even the oxtail. After demolishing the entrees, it was time for the sweets! The moment of truth has come. So the mango galette was good. It’s a welcome change on the dessert menu. It’s a cousin to the plantain tart.. 😃😃😃. The potato pudding was a bit too dry for my taste, but it seasoned really good. I love the “slush” on the top. This pudding was “slush-less” 🥲 But, other than that, no complaints.
The flow of the river, the overcast skies, the music, the smell of good food and the overall vibe made it an experience. I shall return! The customer service was really exceptional. The hosts and servers were warm and welcoming. They explained everything well and assisted us when we needed it. The price point were as expected for an event like this ( see price board for reference).
So, after an awesome experience, it was time to head to st mary... filled with good memories.
