The national assembly of the Republic of Kenya will today seal the fate of Finance Bill 2023. Just like last week, the bill will be passed since it's all about numbers. Last week, on Tuesday, during the first reading of the finance bill, several government delegates were invited to witness the release of the new governments' maiden. The speaker of the National Assembly conducted the normal parliamentary proceedings and debates. It was when he welcomed the cabinet secretary in charge of treasury, that the parliament turned into a boiler room. Senior council on opposition stood on a point of order and requested if the finance bill had followed the right process according to the constitution of Kenya. The speaker of the national assembly shunned him and said that it was out of order to raise such issues at that time, so the cabinet secretary began reading, and the opposition side walked out of the parliament chanting songs to express their displeasure with the finance bill. Today, even if the citizens know that it's about numbers and that the bill will pass, are the members of parliament really doing the right thing or are they acting out of pressure? What most citizens fail to understand is why the current government raises the cost of living, yet it is for hustlers. and they promised in their manifesto to lower the living standards. Up until now, the ruling party has said that the finance bill must pass irrespective of what the opposition tries to do as it is the gateway to a new and stable country.
