The Twin Pregnancy Episode 15

Nene has decided she was not going to get married to any man. She decided she would be better off living as a single mother and taking good care of her children. Nene thought since she has money and everything she needs, there would be no need to entangle herself with a man who she would be calling her husband and who she must obey faithfully. In her mind, she was not sure if all men were the same as Roland or if some of them were different and good.

“I don’t want to be anyone’s wife. I don’t want to be under any man who would be commanding me like a slave and even wake up one day and abandon me the same way Roland abandoned me when I got pregnant for him. I don’t want to be in that helpless situation again where I will be running around trying to take care of myself and my babies when those I trusted have betrayed my trust. I want to be left alone and unmarried.” Nene said to herself one evening she was resting in her room.

“I don’t even think I’m going to give birth again. The four children I have are enough. If I get married now, the man would want me to get pregnant and carry his own babies for him. This will make me end up having multiple children to take care of and not having time to enjoy life. Being a mother of multiple children is a lot. Taking care of children wears me out a lot and I think the stress given to me by the four children I have is already enough. It is certain that if I marry Fredo, he would want his own children from me. I don’t think I’m ready to bear more children in addition to the four I have.” Nene thought in her mind.

However, when she told her mother about her intention not to get married, the old woman was very worried. Her mother confronted her and made it clear that not getting married and remaining single was not a good thing. She insisted that Nene should accept the proposal from Fredo and marry him.

“Every woman, no matter how rich needs a man by her side. You need a man to protect you and your children. The world is cruel to women who don’t have men standing by them. If you accept to marry him, you will stand a better chance of being happy than staying single. It is not in our culture to remain unmarried, no matter how strong or rich you are. You need to get married because it earns you societal respect.” Nene’s mother tells her, but the young woman was still adamant.

“I don’t want societal respect. You said I need a man to stand by me, but Roland did not stand by me when I needed him to support me and my pregnancy. How am sure Fredo would not behave the same way? Is there a guarantee that all men are not the same? I don’t want to suffer any of the things I suffered in the hands of Roland if I accept to marry Fredo.” Nene said to her mother.

“My daughter all men are not the same. There are good men out there and I’m sure Fredo is one of them. He is nothing like Roland. He has supported you since you gave birth and shown you that his intentions are good. I’m sure he is a good man and I advise you to accept him. You need a man in your life. Trust me, you will be happier if you have a husband who loves and cherishes you every day.” Nene’s mother said with worry written all over her face.

“I don’t think I need a man to be happy. Who says a man can make a woman happy? Roland was not able to make me happy, how can Fredo make me happy? Is it money? I already worked hard and made my own money. If I’m able to work hard and take care of myself and my children, then why do I need a man to take care of us? I don’t need any man who would come and dominate my life and make me reliant on him. I don’t want to rely on any man for protection or for feeding. I want to feed myself and my children by myself through hard and honest work.” Nene tells her mother point blank.

“But you still need a man. Culturally, a woman is not supposed to be alone. God made it that a woman should get married. You should not have to be alone. You need a man to love you. Even if you have made your own money, the presence of a man in your life earns you more respect. You need a man, trust me. I’m your mother and I cannot mislead you into a ditch. Accept Fredo’s proposal not because you need his money but because you need a man in your life.” Nene’s mother said.

“Alright mum. I will do this just to make you happy. As for me, if he is a good man, I will be happy, if he is not, I will kick him out of my life and become single again. I’m going into this marriage with an open mind, not expecting too much. I will not be heartbroken if Fredo turns out to be like Roland. I will just accept it and leave. I’m never giving any man the chance to ride over my head again.” Nene said.

Later that evening when Fredo came to visit Nene, she finally accepted to marry him. Fredo came with a ring and he knelt down and gave it to Nene with so much respect. She was happy. Days later, a wedding date was fixed and the news went viral that Nene was getting married to the president’s son. Roland heard about it and got prepared for his final revenge.

“I will not allow this wedding to take place. It will be a shame on me if Nene gets the chance to marry the son of the president. I will do everything possible to make sure the wedding will not take place.” Roland said to himself.

Nene's aunt also heard about the wedding and she was not happy.

"If this girl ends up getting married to the son of the president, it would be shame on me. I will not allow this to happen. The wedding will not take place." She said to herself.

The Twin Pregnancy Episode Fourteen

Nene woke up in the hotel room with something in her mind. She does not want Roland to ever disturb her again or to come after her babies ever again. She wants to be the one to grant him the permission to see her babies before he would be allowed to see them. Nene does not want a situation where the babies would go missing again because of Roland. News had gone round that Roland had been arrested and Nene was glad. She also heard the name of the police station where he was detained.

“I’m going to locate the police station where Roland is detained and make sure he signs an undertaking never to disturb me again. I will never be in that position where I will be running around and looking for my babies again. Roland will never be able to cause problems for me again. I’m not weak and I cannot allow him to put me in high tension. If I show him that I’m strong and capable of confronting him, he will never attempt to undermine me again. I was not the one who told him to abandon me when I was pregnant. He chose not to accept the pregnancy. So, since he did not accept the pregnancy, I cannot allow him to take the babies because it will be like reaping where he did not sow. He can only see the babies or even touch them if I allow him to do so.” Nene said to herself as she prepared to go to the police station. She had prepared the babies and she had taken her bath and soon, she was ready to go.

When she was done, she called the Uber driver who had brought her the previous night to come to the hotel and pick her up as agreed. Within a few minutes, the Uber driver arrived at the hotel and also went to Nene’s hotel room to help her bring the babies to the car. Soon, they were driving to the police station.

It was not long before they arrived at the police station which was just a stone throw from the hotel and the airport. Immediately Nene entered the station, the policemen on duty recognized her.

"I have come to lay a proper complaint about my babies' father. He took my children without my permission. This was after abandoning me with the pregnancy and leaving me to suffer alone and give birth. I would want him to sign an undertaking that he would never bother me or my children again." Nene said.

Because of Nene's popularity and appeal, the police men attended to her and did everything she requested just as if she was a very important person. They were happy to see her having heard her story. Nene has become a celebrity because a lot of media houses were reporting her story.

Roland was brought out from detention and he was made to sign the undertaking never to bother Nene or her children again.

"Roland, you chose to abandon me when I was pregnant. You got me pregnant and treated me like trash. You treated me like a piece of rag. You had no regard for the babies I was carrying in my womb. You even ran away, leaving me to suffer the consequences of the pregnancy all alone without the help of a man to stand behind me. I took the responsibility of caring for myself and the pregnancy in good fate. I was able to pull through and as God would have it, I was blessed with multiple children at once. Imagine if I had listened to you? Imagine if I had done what you asked me to do? Would I have been a mother of four babies today? Look, Roland, you chose your path and I chose mine. I don't want us to be on each other's neck. Stay on your lane let me stay on my lane. I have a serious responsibility of raising four children and I don't want to leave that responsibility to start running around and making trouble with you." Nene said. Nene left the police station with her head high. The time for her flight to Abuja was approaching, so she boarded the taxi and headed to the airport. Roland was released after he signed the undertaking.

When Nene arrived her apartment in Abuja with her babies, she saw that Fredo, the son of the president had come to visit her but was leaving after he was told Nene was not back home yet. As he stepped out of the door, he came face to face with Nene and her babies.

"I'm glad you and your babies are fine. I was worried when I saw the news on TV. Do you need help to deal with Roland? Do you want me to intervene? I will make sure he never bothers you and your babies again." Fredo said as they entered the room and took seats.

"Don't worry Fredo. I have handled the whole thing on my own. He will never be able to bother us again. I'm just so happy my babies are back in good health. There's nothing more to be afraid of or to worry about. Yes, he is the father of the babies but he abandoned his responsibilities when I needed him the most, so I have the right to keep the babies away from him. But thanks very much Fredo for coming over to check on us. I really appreciate it." Nene said with a lovely smile.

"Well, there's another thing I wanted to tell you." Fredo said tenderly.

"And what is that? I'm all ears." Nene said.

"I wanted to let you know how beautiful you are and how lovely your smile is. Ever since I saw you, your images have been carved in my mind. I must say that I like you. I like your courage and I would like us to date." Fredo said.

"Like, you want me to be your girlfriend? I'm a single mother remember?" Nene said.

"I know! And I'm ready to marry you if need be. I will be a wonderful step-father to the children. I promise, you will never regret if you accept me as a husband." Fredo said.

"I will think about it." Nene said.

The Twin Pregnancy Episode Thirteen

When Nene finished feeding her babies, she covered her milk factory and then sat down and watched the children with happiness and satisfaction. But there is still a big problem ahead. She is finding it hard to figure out how to leave the hotel with her babies. Nene knew it would be very difficult for her to leave the hotel with the babies such that the security will not question her at the gate. This is because they have seen Roland with the babies and he had lied to everyone that his wife was coming to join her and that they would leave together.

“It will be suspicious if I start leaving with the babies alone. Even the receptionist will start questioning me. And the security at the gate might start asking me where my husband is. How am I going to do this? This is a difficult situation.” Nene said to herself, still in the hotel room. Night had fallen by this time.

“Is it possible for me to leave in the cover of darkness without being detected? This is not a good idea because the hotel environment is well lit and everywhere is bright. They will see me and I will be caught. Or, is it better for me to go and open up to the receptionist and ask for her help? It might be good if I open up to her and ask her to convince the security at the gate to allow me leave with the babies.” Nene said to herself. She stood up from the bed and opened the hotel room and left. She entered the elevator and went downstairs to talk to the receptionist.

When Nene got to the reception area, she found out that the lady who was there when she arrived had closed form work. Her shift had ended and another receptionist, this time, a man had taken over at the reception desk to work through the night. Nene was not happy when she saw that the lady who was nice to her had left.

“Is there anything I can help you with? I mean, I’m here to pick up the job. Even if she is not here, I can help you with whatever problem you want to sort out in the hotel. That’s my job.” The receptionist said with a smile. Nene figured out that something. She decided to be deceptive. It could be that the new receptionist may not have read the handover notes given to him by the lady who had closed from work.

“I want to check out with my babies.” Nene said in one breath.

“You have babies in the hotel?” The receptionist asked. It turns out that Nene’s instincts were right. The new receptionist didn’t know the whole story about how Nene’s babies arrived at the hotel.

“Yes! They are quadruplets and I need your help in bringing them down so that I can bought a taxi to the airport. I need to catch a flight to Abuja this night.” Nene said to the receptionist.

“Wow! You are mother to quadruplets? Awwww! I wish my wife could give birth to quadruplets as well. Please, let us go so that I can help you. Wow! I can’t wait to see the babies.” The receptionist said with joy. He immediately stood up and followed Nene upstairs. They got there and the receptionist helped her pick up the babies and the rushed back downstairs. The receptionist used his phone to call an Uber driver he knows and within minutes, he arrived at the hotel and picked Nene. The whole thing was so easy that Nene pinched herself to know if she was still awake or dreaming.

“I said it that nothing is impossible. Thank God for this new receptionist. I didn’t even get to answer any questions. Now, I’m leaving with my babies. But I can’t go to the airport. The babies need to rest. I can’t allow them to fly twice in less than 24 hours. They are still too tender for this kind of stress. Besides, it will be difficult for me to see a flight going to Abuja this night. The time is already 9pm. Let me look for a hotel and lodge for the night. I will book a flight with my phone and then we can fly to Abuja tomorrow morning. The most important thing is that I now have my babies with me and Roland can go to hell.” Nene said in her heart as soon as the Uber taxi drove out of the hotel and hit the road.

“Please, is there any hotel that is very close to the airport? I want to fly my babies to Abuja early tomorrow morning. I do not want heavy traffic to disturb us in the morning while moving to the airport. Can you take us to a nearby hotel so we can pass the night?” Nene asked the Uber driver.

“Of course! In fact, there is a hotel just a stone throw to the airport. Do you want me to take you there?” The driver asked.

“Yes! I like that one! Let’s go please.” Nene said as the driver negotiated a bend and entered the hotel in question. The driver helped Nene take the babies into the hotel.

“Please, come back tomorrow morning and pick us.” Nene tells the driver as he leaves and Nene enters to lodge with her babies.

When Roland came back from where he had gone to eat for the night, he saw that the babies were gone. He was alarmed and scared.

“Who was here? I thought I locked the door? What happened here?” Roland asked himself as she started running around.

“I’m sure Nene must be the one behind this. I will go to the police and report for taking my children. She will go to jail for this. She doesn’t know who he is joking with. I’m about to teach her a lesson. I will find her and get her arrested.” Roland said as he stepped out of the hotel room and headed to the police station.

However, before Roland could go to the police, Nene figured out something that would secure her actions. She knows a journalist who works at a television station in Abuja. The journalist had come to interview her at the hospital when she gave birth to her babies and the president visited her. She removed her phone and called the journalist.

“I want to tell you the story of my life. I want it to go viral so that people will hear about it.” Nene said over the phone. She went ahead to narrate the story of how Roland got her pregnant and abandoned her and also how he took the babies from her and how she has been able to get the babies back. She sent her photos when she was pregnant, and photos of Roland and the babies to the journalist. Within a few minutes, the news was all over the internet and TV channels picked it. It travelled like wild fire and reached the ears of the president. Police immediately started hunting for Roland but he was not aware. When he went to the police station to report Nene, the policeman on duty recognized him because his face has been on TV. He was arrested and detained.

The Twin Pregnancy Episode Twelve

When Nene landed in Lagos, she first looked for a restaurant to eat a nice meal. She was hungry and needed to have food in her belly before she would try locating the exact place Roland was hiding with her children. She knew if there was no food in her belly, her milk factory will not produce milk. She entered a roadside restaurant close to the airport and ordered hot eba and oha soup with assorted ‘orishi rishi’. She sat down and ate aggressive and washed it down with a big bottle of Eva water. After eating, she started feeling strong again.

“Time to go!” Nene said as she stood up and left the restaurant. At that time, night was already falling. Nene used her Google map to search where the hotel was located. She saw that it was not too far from the airport where she had landed earlier in Ikeja. Roland did not go far with the babies when he too landed because it is not easy travelling a long distance with four children in a car. So he had stopped at a nearby hotel.

But Nene saw that the hotel was not a trekkable distance, so she had to order an Uber ride to take her there.

“I wonder if my babies are fine. What is Roland using to feed them? Has he even fed them at all? Why will a man carry infants and run away? This man is not wise and there is no way I will end up with you as a husband.” Nene said in her heart while in the Uber taxi. The taxi negotiated a bend and branched off into the street where the hotel is located. Soon, the taxi came to a stop at the gate of the beautiful hotel. Nene came down, paid the Uber driver and then entered the hotel.

“So this is where this man is keeping my babies? I will not leave this place without my babies in my arms. These babies have come to represent my happiness and joy. Anyone who attempts to take them from me will have me to contend with. I’m going into this hotel and I will come out with my babies.” Nene said in her heart as she approaches the reception area.

The receptionist at the hotel happens to be a beautiful young lady who was beaming with a lot of smiles when she saw Nene.

“Good evening ma. How may I help you? Welcome to our hotel, a place of comfort and enjoyment.” The receptionist said to Nene, thinking she was there to enjoy herself. She did not know that Nene was at the hotel for a mission that was more important than enjoyment.

“Good evening. I have come here to meet with my husband. We live in Abuja but he came to Lagos ahead of me. Do you remember him? The man who came here with four babies. I’m the mother of the four babies. They have been waiting for me to breastfeed them. I would have arrived earlier, but I took a different flight and my flight was delayed for several hours.” Nene said to the receptionist. She knew she was telling lies but there was nothing she could do to gain access into the hotel and come out with the babies undisturbed. She wants a situation whereby she could go in and try bringing out the babies and no one would disturb her. She has not yet figured out how to bring out the babies, but she was taking things one step at a time, and the first step is to locate Roland’s room at the hotel.

“Awwww! I saw the babies earlier. Congratulations ma. They are so cute! I was asking the father about you and he said you would soon join them. And here you are! I told him I would hug you when you come because I want to give birth to quadruplets as well. I want to tap from your blessing. Please, can I hug you?” The receptionist said excitedly. She did not wait for Nene to respond before she rushed out from her desk and gave Nene a warm embrace.

“Thank you. God will give you quadruplets if that’s your heart’s desire.” Nene said to the receptionist.

“Your husband is in room number 643 on the 4th floor. Please use the elevator! Please rush and meet him so you can feed the babies. They must have been tired of waiting for you.” The receptionist said.

Nene thanked her and left the reception area and headed for the elevator. She entered the elevator and pressed 4th floor where the room was located. Within a few minutes, she was on the 4th floor. As she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Roland coming out of room 643. He was not with the babies and he went towards the second elevator on the left wing of the building and then entered. He was going down to buy food for himself. Nene quickly hid behind a big pillar so that Roland will not see her. When Roland’s elevator started descending to the ground floor, Nene came out and headed for the room.

Nene tried opening the door, but it was tightly locked.

“Oh God! What am I going to do now? I have to be quick before Roland goes to the ground floor and discovers that I’m here and he starts looking for me.” Nene said. She looked around the environment and saw a trash basket and she quickly rushed to it. She saw a plastic plate and plastic spoon in the trash can. She also saw a plastic toothpick. She brought out the plastic toothpick and then put it in the keyhole of the door and turned it with speed severally, twisting the toothpick greatly. The lock clicked ‘kpakam’ and the door opened. Even Nene herself was shocked that she was able to open the door.

After the door opened, she rushed in with speed and then saw her babies lying on the bed. They looked very tired. Nene saw a key on the table, she used it to lock herself inside the room.

“The first thing is to feed these babies. They must be very hungry.” Nene said as she took off her top dress and revealed her milk factory. Her milk factory was already producing food and part of her dress was drenched. It was as if the babies sensed that there mother was around, so they started making tiny noises indicating they wanted to be fed. Nene was happy as she grabbed her milk factory and fed the babies one after the other.

“The next thing is to figure out how to leave this place. Nothing is impossible! I can do it! There is nothing I cannot do! Leaving this building with my babies is a small thing.” Nene tells herself.
