Materials Needed
• Suede brush or soft toothbrush
• Suede eraser or clean block eraser
• White vinegar or rubbing alcohol
• Microfiber cloth
• Cornstarch (for oil stains)
• Suede protectant spray
Steps to Clean Suede Shoes
1. Brush Away Dirt
o Use a suede brush or a soft toothbrush to gently brush away any loose dirt or dust. Brush in the same direction as the nap (the raised fibers of the suede).
2. Remove Scuff Marks
o Rub scuff marks with a suede eraser or a clean block eraser. Gently rub back and forth until the marks are gone.
3. Treat Stains
o For general stains, dip a corner of a clean cloth in white vinegar or rubbing alcohol and gently dab the stain. Use a back-and-forth motion to lift the stain. Let the area dry completely before brushing the suede to restore the nap.
o For oil stains, sprinkle a thin layer of cornstarch over the stain and let it sit overnight. The next day, brush off the cornstarch with a suede brush.
4. Protect the Suede
o Once your shoes are clean and dry, spray them with a suede protectant to help repel water, dirt, and stains in the future.
