Pediatricians usually diagnose colic when a healthy baby continually cries for prolonged periods. The condition may be more harmful to apprehensive and frustrated parents. Remember, while it may be hard to cope, colic is largely a harmless condition that disappears on its own.
The first few weeks of child-rearing causes a big challenge largely for new parents. Although you may be sore and exhausted, having to deal with colic in your bundle of joy can be a dreadful nightmare. Soon your joy turns to anxiety, blood pressure or violent harmful thoughts against the baby. While colic itself has no long-term effects on children, babies experience the worst bouts of colic from the age of 6 to 8 weeks, and diminishes on its own between 8 to 14 weeks.
