THE SMARTEST FOOL 😄
Baraka was the smartest guy in the village… and the most annoying.
He could calculate compound interest in his head, quote philosophers nobody had heard of, and correct your grammar mid-sentence… even when you were greeting him.
One day, Baraka decided he was too intelligent for village life.
“These people,” he said, adjusting imaginary glasses, “are operating on a lower cognitive bandwidth.”
So he moved to the city...“to meet his intellectual equals.”
In the city, Baraka found a crowd gathered around a street performer. The performer was doing a challenge:
“Anyone who can answer my question wins 1000 shillings!”
Baraka smirked. Free money. He pushed through the crowd.
“I’ll answer it,” he said confidently.
The performer smiled. “Alright, genius. Here’s the question:
What is greater than God, more evil than the devil, the poor have it, the rich need it, and if you eat it, you die?
Baraka opened a notebook.
Started calculating. Drawing diagrams. Whispering big English.
Finally, after a very long time, a small street kid who had been watching said:
“Uncle… the answer is nothing.”
“…what?”Baraka froze.
“Nothing is greater than God. Nothing is more evil than the devil. The poor have nothing. The rich need nothing. If you eat nothing… you die.”
Baraka embarrassingly closed his notebook.
The performer handed the 1000 shillings… to the kid.
Baraka stood there, defeated not by lack of intelligence, but by overuse of it.
Lesson:
Being intelligent is powerful.
But overcomplicating simple things can make you look like a fool.
Sometimes…
thinking less is thinking better.
