Psalms 91:1-16
[1]Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty,
[2]can say to him, “You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.”
[3]He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases.
[4]He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you.
[5]You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day
[6]or the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight.
[7]A thousand may fall dead beside you, 10,000 all round you, but you will not be harmed.
[8]You will look and see how the wicked are punished.
[9]You have made the Lord your defender, the Most High your protector,
[10]and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home.
[11]God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go.
[12]They will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones.
[13]You will trample down lions and snakes, fierce lions and poisonous snakes.
[14]God says, “I will save those who love me and will protect those who acknowledge me as Lord.
[15]When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honour them.

1 Thessalonians 5:13-28
[13]Treat them with the greatest respect and love because of the work they do. Be at peace among yourselves.
[14]We urge you, our brothers and sisters, to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
[15]See that no one pays back wrong for wrong, but at all times make it your aim to do good to one another and to all people.
[16]Be joyful always,
[17]pray at all times,
[18]be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus.
[19]Do not restrain the Holy Spirit;
[20]do not despise inspired messages.
[21]Put all things to the test: keep what is good
[22]and avoid every kind of evil.
[23]May the God who gives us peace make you holy in every way and keep your whole being — spirit, soul, and body — free from every fault at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
[24]He who calls you will do it, because he is faithful.
[25]Pray also for us, brothers and sisters.
[26]Greet all the believers with a holy kiss.
[27]I urge you by the authority of the Lord to read this letter to all the believers.

Romans 8:1-11
[1]There is no condemnation now for those who live in union with Christ Jesus.
[2]For the law of the Spirit, which brings us life in union with Christ Jesus, has set me free from the law of sin and death.
[3]What the Law could not do, because human nature was weak, God did. He condemned sin in human nature by sending his own Son, who came with a nature like sinful human nature, to do away with sin.
[4]God did this so that the righteous demands of the Law might be fully satisfied in us who live according to the Spirit, and not according to human nature.
[5]Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants.
[6]To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.
[7]And so people become enemies of God when they are controlled by their human nature; for they do not obey God's law, and in fact they cannot obey it.
[8]Those who obey their human nature cannot please God.
[9]But you do not live as your human nature tells you to; instead, you live as the Spirit tells you to — if, in fact, God's Spirit lives in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
[10]But if Christ lives in you, the Spirit is life for you because you have been put right with God, even though your bodies are going to die because of sin.
[11]If the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, lives in you, then he who raised Christ from death will also give life to your mortal bodies by the presence of his Spirit in you.
