🇰🇭 Cambodia Message to the World on Border Tension

Cambodia urges the international community to help stop the aggression by Thailand. For long-lasting peace for our nations, let’s go to international court. Cambodia will accept the court’s decision.

1. Cambodia is a Peace-Loving Nation
• Cambodia has no intention to engage in war with any neighboring country, including Thailand.
• We respect the principles of international law, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence.

2. Historical Context
• The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in 1962 that the Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Cambodia and other temples.
• In 2013, the ICJ clarified that the surrounding land near the temple also falls under Cambodian sovereignty.
• Cambodia has respected this decision and calls on Thailand to do the same.

3. Khmer Temples Are National Heritage
• Many ancient temples lie along the Cambodia-Thailand border, and they are Khmer heritage, not disputed objects for modern claims.
• These temples were built by the Khmer Empire long before modern borders existed.

4. No to Violence, Yes to Law
• Cambodia has not initiated conflict. Any military movement is purely for national defense.
• Cambodia invites Thailand to return to dialogue and international law as the solution.

5. Appeal to Global Support
• We appeal to the UN, ASEAN, and the international community to observe the situation and help maintain regional peace and stability.
