Global Design iT Award 2025 ㅣ Awards Ceremony

Goth Design, winner of the Minister of Trade, Industry and Resources Prize - a special prize at the Global Design iT Award 2025 - presented their winning work.
It was a meaningful time to hear directly from the designer about the intention and purpose of the design, as well as the process of its development.
All attendees focused intently on the moment, their eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Project: PURA
Design: KIM SUNG JAE, LEE HEON WOO

Are priority seats for pregnant women enough? Though widely available, 57% of pregnant women feel discomfort or pressure using them. Revealing pregnancy to claim a seat can also cause emotional stress.
We propose a smart handle system that offers support and protection. When unoccupied, the handle lowers to block the seat, preventing misuse.
When a pregnant woman with an NFC-enabled emblem approaches, the system detects her and gently raises the handle to allow access.
A button on the emblem also enables manual control.
The slow, safe motion of the handle reduces physical strain and encourages natural, respectful behavior from others.

At Hanwha Solutions’ request, process and non-process areas were connected to combine process and office functions. Circulation, seating, and lighting were integrated to create a space that delivers both efficiency and comfort.
