Our gingham fabric is inspired by the ຜ້າບ່ຽງ (pha biang) we see draped across shoulders in Laos. And it also serves as the perfect pattern to better understand how weaving works!

⬛️ ⬜️ The black and white checkers are created by using black and white warp threads (the vertical threads).
🟦 ⬜️ Meanwhile, the blue and white checkers are created by using blue plastic bags and white plastic bags for the weft threads (the horizontal threads).

If you've seen traditional Lao weaving in action before, the weft thread is what is loaded onto the shuttle and thrown "weft" to right between the warp threads. Bring it all together and you get a classic pattern! ✨

Plastic was invented in 1869 as an effort to save 🐘 elephants.

Over 150 years later and now plastics are polluting the 🌏 wild places elephants call home.

Laos has long been known as ✨ The Land of a Million Elephants ✨ and so it feels fitting that we can keep looking out for the elephants by recycling plastic bags. 🫶

We're all about putting the FUN in functional!

Lately, we've been busy experimenting with new 🎨 colours for our ເຄຶອ (warp threads). You can see the effect in our latest batch of Tri Clips where white have been transformed into a gorgeous butter yellow through the use of yellow ເຄຶອ. Paired with some bright zippers, you can't help but smile at these funky pouches!
