📣 ເປີດຮັບສະໝັກສິລະປິນ (OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS)

The XYZ Art center ຮ່ວມກັບ MAG Laos ແລະ ໄດ້ຮັບການສະໜັບສະໜູນຈາກ Norway, The European Union ແລະ SDC ມີຄວາມຍິນດີເປີດຮັບສະໝັກສິລະປິນເຂົ້າຮ່ວມໂຄງການ “Land and Memory: Living with UXO in Lao PDR”.

ງານວາງສະແດງໃນຮູບແບບການຄົ້ນຄວ້າ (Research-Based Exhibition) ຂໍເຊີນຊວນສິລະປິນໃຫ້ສຳຫຼວດຄວາມສຳພັນລະຫວ່າງຜູ້ຄົນ, ຜືນແຜ່ນດິນ, ຄວາມຊົງຈຳ, ຄວາມເຂັ້ມແຂງໃນການຟື້ນຟູ ແລະ ມໍລະດົກທີ່ຍັງຄົງຫຼົງເຫຼືອຈາກລະເບີດບໍ່ທັນແຕກ (UXO) ໃນ ສປປ ລາວ ຜ່ານການສ້າງສັນສິລະປະຮ່ວມສະໄໝ.

ສິລະປິນທີ່ໄດ້ຮັບຄັດເລືອກຈະໄດ້ຮັບ:
• ທຶນສະໜັບສະໜູນການຜະລິດຜົນງານສິລະປະ 10,000,000 ກີບ
• ການລົງພື້ນທີ່ຄົ້ນຄວ້າຢູ່ແຂວງຊຽງຂວາງ (13–15 ກໍລະກົດ 2026)
• ການສະໜັບສະໜູນດ້ານພິພິດທະພັນສາດ (Curatorial Support) ແລະ ການພັດທະນາວິຊາຊີບ
• ໂອກາດໃນການຈັດສະແດງຜົນງານທີ່ MAG Visitor Information Centre, ນະຄອນຫຼວງວຽງຈັນ
• ໄດ້ຮັບການນຳສະເໜີໃນ Lao Art Week 2026

📣 OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

The XYZ Art Center, in partnership with MAG Laos and with the support of Norway, The European Union & SDC is pleased to launch an Open Call for Artists for “ Land and Memory: Living with UXO in Lao PDR” .

This unique research based exhibition invites artists to explore the relationship between people, land, memory, resilience, and the lasting legacy of UXO in Laos through contemporary artistic practice.

Selected artists will receive:
• Artwork production grant of 10,000,000 LAK
• Research field study in Xiengkhouang Province (13–15 July 2026)
• Curatorial and professional development support
• Opportunity to exhibit at the MAG Visitor Information Centre, Vientiane
• Inclusion in Lao Art Week 2026

Application Requirements:
• Artist CV
• Portfolio (maximum 10 pages or 10 works)
• Brief concept note (maximum 500 words) responding to the theme “ Land and Memory “ Lao or English.

Project Timeline:

On 22 May 2026, we celebrated the opening of ROOTS DIALOGUE through a meaningful Lao tradition of tying cloth onto trees — a gesture of respect, protection, and connection. Each piece of fabric carries a story and shared memory, woven together as a symbol of belonging, collective dialogue, and growth.

At Ban Nayang, every activity became a bridge between generations. Through ROOTS Dialogue, young children explored the meaning of art, heritage, and the beautiful craftsmanship their village has preserved and passed down until today.

From thoughtful Q&A sessions, a mini exhibition, and hands-on weaving activities to a warm homemade lunch, each moment carried stories of culture and community. And the Baci ceremony, filled with kindness, blessings, and care. Truly touched our hearts.

Meet W***y Hansana - a contemporary artist

For the ROOTS DIALOGUE project, he collaborated with artisans from Ban Nayang, Ban Napoon, and Ban Korbong to create a work that reflects on the intersection between “intangible memory” the unseen and non-object and “physical form” the tangible object, through the lens of traditional Lao bamboo weaving.

Meet Souphalak Phongsavath - artist and curator of I:Cat Gallery.

For the ROOTS DIALOGUE project, she collaborated closely with the artisans of Ban Nayang and Ban Korbong to create an immersive exhibition inspired by the living insects found in rice fields. Blending contemporary art with traditional craftsmanship, her work invites you to experience the unseen beauty and delicate ecosystem woven into rural life.
