Suriya Sivakumar, one of Tamil cinema’s most respected actors, founded the Agaram Foundation in 2006 with a clear mission—to empower underprivileged students in Tamil Nadu, especially first-generation learners from rural and marginalized communities, by giving them access to higher education. Through initiatives like the Vidhai program, the foundation provides scholarships, mentorship, and continuous guidance, helping students pursue professional courses and move closer to their dreams.
By 2025, Agaram has impacted the lives of more than 8,000 students, with over 6,700 first-generation graduates emerging from its support system, including at least 51 doctors and nearly 1,800 engineers. The foundation also extends its reach to Dalit students, tribal communities, and Sri Lankan refugees, collaborating with educational institutions to secure free seats, accommodation, and resources for deserving candidates.
Suriya’s vision through Agaram Foundation stands as a powerful symbol of hope, reinforcing the idea that education remains the strongest tool to break the cycle of poverty and inequality. His consistent efforts have not only transformed individual lives but have also inspired society at large—proving that when the right opportunities are created, talent and determination can truly thrive without limits.
