In Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah commanded Bani Israel to slaughter a cow. However, they complicated the matter so much by asking unnecessary questions, that only made things extremely difficult on them in the end! It is not a sign of piety to make religion difficult on oneself. Check out also the following relevant hadith:
A group of 3 men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, asking how he ﷺ worshipped Allah. When they got the answers, they felt that their own acts of worship were insufficient. They thought that since the Prophet ﷺ was already promised forgiveness for his past and future sins, they believed that they were thus more in need to work harder and worship Allah even more.
So one of them said that he would never sleep so that he could pray the night prayer. Another said he would fast every single day, and would never break his fast. And the third man said that he would never marry, so he wouldn’t be distracted from the worship of Allah. When this news reached the Prophet ﷺ, he ﷺ went to the 3 men and said:
🔵 “By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and have more taqwa of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep, and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (i.e. not one of my followers).” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 5063]
Don’t make the religion hard upon you. Stick to the Sunnah, and give your body and family their due rights.
