❓Have you ever stopped to think about what really happens to returned items❓

💚Many people imagine it very simply: if an item is returned, it probably just goes back on the shelf and is sold again to someone else. But in reality, it is not always that simple.

💚We are seeing more and more returned items come back in very poor condition. It is quite rare for an item to return neatly folded, carefully packed, and in a state where we only need to do a quick check before preparing it for resale. Much more often, we see something very different: wrinkled garments stuffed into boxes that are far too small, covered in pet hair, stained, with stretched threads, clearly worn, or even washed with detergent.

💚We have also received returns that leave us not only disappointed, but also asking a very real question: what should we do in situations like this? One of the most memorable cases was when merino garments were returned damp, in a supermarket bag, with a strong smell. Items like that can no longer go back into stock or be passed on to another person.

💚The hardest part in these situations is the conversation with the client. When we have to inform a customer that a returned item is not in suitable condition, we sometimes receive responses saying that the item was returned in perfect condition, that we are making things up, and that we should do a better job of serving our customers.

💚But for us, this is not only about rules. It is also about respect for the item itself and for the next person who might buy it after you. It is about caring for resources and acting responsibly as a business. Not everything can simply be thrown away, but not everything can go back on sale either.
