Last week I spent a few days in London and revisiting some of my favourite vintage clothes stores there reminded me of how much I like working with "old" material. It carries so many stories before being sewn into a new one.

Conceptually it's quite different from working with new stock fabric, since the vintage fabric determines your design and construction before you can even start making a pattern. But it's a lovely challenge if you are mindful of it.

This little fairy dress was made for a photoshoot last autumn. A unique piece... but I have some of this lovely lace left over, so may be there'll be siblings one day.

What's special about these superhero costumes?

⭐️ The entire costumes is made from pure cotton, friendly to your kids skin and our planet.
⭐️ Yes, they are machine washable. 
⭐️ You can choose from five different logos and six different colour combinations, so that's 60 options to make it your little heros favourite. 
⭐️ Plus, each set will be personalised with your little heroes initial incorporated in the logo.

Offering 60 possible colour and logo combination isn't the most commercially viable way of making costumes, but Atelier Spatz has always been about doing something extra special for children's costumes. 🚀

A fresh batch of superhero sets is now in stock, ready to be personalised and designed to celebrate every child’s unique strengths. 

I am testing a few new playful colour combinations in this batch. Like turquoise and orange 🩵🧡, and pink and turquoise 🩷🩵 and black and red 🖤❤️. Let me know what you think. Some of the combos are only available once, so you better hurry.

And yes, they are perfect for milestones big or small like completing your first year in school or celebrating a decade on this earth. And if you are turning 100 and feel like your inner child needs a cape, contact me for a bespoke version.

Last week, Sir David Attenborough turned 100 and it reminded me of the kind of real-life heroes we’d love our children to look up to. Maybe it’s also a nudge for all of us to lead more by example. 

I remember the time we watched Blue Planet for the first time and then again with the kids. Such an eye opener. Go watch it. And the making off.
