Tapīrs Homemade/handmade clothing and accessories from Riga, Latvia. Love, family, tapirs and coffee. So they decided to bring one for me. Somehow we decided- thats it!

To tell how we decided to open our shop on estsy, I have to start at the very beginning
It was November 2011, I was working at a small store in the center of Riga city, my colleague had a day off that evening. He and his childhood friend was near and had a coffee which they got for free in coffee bar which had just opened around the corner. And then it happened (no we didn't open etsy shop yet :D

) my colleague introduced me to Toms, it was love at first sight (for Toms :D). But after few walks, one party, some dancing and one ice-hockey game in January 2012 I gave up to love and we become a couple. After a year and seven days our little angel Annika was born (and she has a huge part in opening shop on etsy) . When I become a full time mom, quit my day job and started to sew, knit and make toys for my baby. Since the things I made was not bad at all, Toms encouraged me to try put them on etsy. One and a half year passed, overcoming my extreme shyness, struggling with name of the label and etc. But then Annika satrted to learn some words, started to speak, and one of the first animals she learned was tapir. This is the name of our label and etsy shop. Tapir is unique and adorable animal and we hope our designs are too. Our label is made thanks to love, our baby and a little cup of coffee ;)

All the items we made are one of a kind, almost all contains upcycled details. For me everything I make is like a little peace of art, I put lot of love in every peace. When I start a new project, I never know how it will look at the end. The ideas come while in process. Somethimes there could be some not perfectly stright seam, but that is only because Annika is often sitting in my lap while I'm sewing :D

Sewing is my passion and I am lucky to have Toms to support and help me :)
