One day, Nyasa wants to be a brand name renowned for its unique fabrics AND its work in local communities around Malawi and further afar. We feel it should be everyone’s responsibility to help those in need so what better way to do so than to donate money in exchange for a funky pair of trousers. We are a non-profit organisation. 25% of the revenue we make goes to three charities. The other 75% is
reinvested into the business with hope of expansion later this summer and next year. We are supporting two community based projects in Malawi: Butterfly Space and Cool Runnings. Both have websites and pages so by all means check them out. Having volunteered there ourselves we know they are reliable and worthwhile causes. A further 5% of the revenue is donated to the freewheelchairmission. We saw the amazing work of this charity first hand, and were fortunate enough to donate five wheelchairs to people, some of whom had not left their one-roomed house for up to twenty years! One of our projects whilst in Malawi was to help set up a disabled workshop to allow disabled sewers to generate an income- something which is very difficult in the developing world. We aim to have all of our clothing tailored by two different disabled sewers’ groups, providing that this summer goes well- so help us and together we can make a real difference! The trousers and shorts have respective recommended prices of £20 and £15 but all donations are welcome. It is common custom in Malawi to haggle, so some negotiation is welcome if you are placing a larger order. All trousers and shorts are elasticated so we operate on a one-size-fits-all basis. Please wash in cold, salt water for the first wash, in order to prevent the colours from running. After the first wash, they should be ok on a low temperature.
