Thinking about what are the next things I should make!!! It’s crazy to think it all started with scrunchies and earrings! But you gotta start somewhere and I’m still so proud of 19 year old me that had a dream and made it happen!
I was so excited to start doing wrap tops but as we know, summer is almost over, so I need your help! Let me know what products you would want to buy sustainably if they were available?!

A FRESH START

With it being a new year I have decided to start this year with a great mindset for alegria collective

The last year I have watched Instagram become all about influencers and marketing and sponsored ads, and slowly w**d out small businesses due to the new algorithm. But I have also watched small businesses still thrive during this time and I’ve watched other forms of social media, like tik tok and Twitter become great places to have exposure as a small business.

So in 2021 I am promising myself a couple of things
1. Engage more with my followers
2. Create more and don’t be afraid of what others might think of it
3. Don’t compare your business to other businesses, everyone is on their own journey
4. Have fun
5. Be happy 😊

I hope I can keep up my promises and deliver some great products and lots of positivity on this page!!! ✨✨✨

The main concept of alegria collective was to make products out of fabric scraps, it’s started with accessories since I didn’t feel comfortable making full garments to sell yet, then I ventured out to a couple of tops, but my biggest seller has been the scrunchies.

After years of making scrunchies and every time I have a vendor opportunity, people tell me my scrunchies are “overpriced” because they can buy a set for $5 at Walmart....I feel defeated.

Sustainability has become so trendy in the past year and big companies have used it as a marketing tactic but consumers don’t care...they want the trendy stuff for cheap. It’s hard to make a profit when your target customer would rather buy off shein and other fast fashion places than actually do some research and repurpose, buy second hand, or buy more ethical.

This got me brainstorming...can I combine fast fashion trends and make them for my target consumer but in a sustainable matter? This is the big question that I will try to answer with what I keep creating for alegria collective and see if this is possible!
