Archaeologists found 800-year-old mummy in Peru.

The mummified remains were said to be of a person from the culture that developed between the coast and mountains of the country, before the rise of the Inca Empire in the 1400s.

The body was found inside an underground structure on the outskirts of Lima. In the tomb were also offerings including ceramics, vegetable remains and stone tools.

The team will now carry out further specialized analysis that will allow them to narrow down the time period during which the person lived and more details about their identity.

Chichén Itzá, ruined ancient Maya city is thought to have been a religious, political, and commercial centre, at its peak would have been home to 35,000 people.
