¡Nueva tienda y nuevo taller!

Desde la separación de Central textil he estado trabajando en la forma de seguir ofreciéndo los increibles productos que teníamos en tienda y al mismo tiempo continuar tiñendo y experimentando con los tintes naturales y textiles.

Desde que me inicie en el textil y el diseño me ha gustado experimentar con las técnicas y los materiales pues siempre he creído que es la mejor forma de aprender. En el 2016 creé mi propia marca de ropa y accesorios que más que una fuente de ingresos significó para mí un pequeño lugar feliz donde podía darle rienda suelta a mi imaginación y creatividad. Ahora 7 años después, pude recordar todo lo que el textil y Nacuanda significan para mí es por eso que retomé este proyecto y todos sus principios y los de Central Textil para continuar creciendo y creando.

Así que después de todo el trabajo y el esfuerzo estoy muy feliz de por fin compartir con ustedes que ahora podrán encontrar los productos que teníamos en la mercería, talleres de tintes naturales y mucho más en mi nuevo espacio .mx .

New store and new workshop!

Since the separation of Central textil I have been working on the way to continue offering the incredible products that we had in store and at the same time continue dyeing and experimenting with natural dyes and textiles.

Since I started in textiles and design, I have liked to experiment with techniques and materials because I have always believed that it is the best way to learn. In 2016 I created my own brand of clothing and accessories that, more than a source of income, meant for me a little happy place where I could give free rein to my imagination and creativity. Now 7 years later, I was able to remember everything that textiles and Nacuanda mean to me, which is why I took up this project and all its principles and those of Central Textil to continue growing and creating.

So after all the work and effort I am very happy to finally share with you that now you will be able to find the products that we had in the haberdashery, natural dye workshops and much more in my new space .mx .

Con el corazón en las manos pero lleno de amor y agradecimiento, le decimos adiós a Central Textil.

Desde que inicio este año han sucedido muchos cambios para nosotras; el primero y más importante de estos fue que nos informaron que teníamos que dejar nuestra casa en Xochimilco en enero, lo que luego nos llevó a replantearnos la forma en la que queríamos seguir creciendo. Durante de este proceso nos dimos cuenta (Ainsley e Isa) que queremos crecer en diferentes direcciones. Aunque el espíritu de Central Textil permanecerá en nuestras, dos nuevos proyectos nacerán!

Compartiremos más sobre eso pronto, pero ahora queremos dar las gracias a todas las personas que han seguido y nos han acompañado en nuestro viaje durante los últimos 2.5 años; les que formaban parte del equipo, participando en un taller, participando o asistiendo a un Pop Up, comprando algo de nuestra tienda, conectando de otra forma en cualquier rincón del mundo. Gracias por estar aquí, por los recuerdos increíbles y esperamos que se mantengan conectadxs a través de los nuevos proyectos que vienen.

With heavy but excited hearts, full of love and gratitude, we‘re saying goodbye to Central Textil.

Since the beginning of the year we’ve gone through many changes; the first and most important was that in January we received the news that we had to leave our home in Xochimilco. This prompted us to think about how was wanted to grow and move forward and though this process we (Ainsley and Isa) realized that we want to grow in different directions. Although the spirit of Central Textil will always remain in us, two new projects will be born!

We’ll be sharing more about that soon, but for now we want to thank every person who has been a part of our journey over the past 2.5yrs; being part of the team, participating in a workshop, participating or coming to a Pop Up, buying something from our store or connecting in another way, from any corner of the world. Thank you for being here, for the amazing memories and support and we hope you stay connected through the new projects to come.

Durante este taller aprenderás a extraer pigmentos de una variedad de plantas diferentes para crear 5 pigmentos de colores diferentes. Aprenderás el proceso de extracción y también la aplicación de estos pigmentos en varias formas. During this workshop you'll learn how to extract pigments from a variety of plants to create 5 different coloured pigments. You'll not only learn the extraction process but also the application of these pigments in various forms with a focus on textiles. You'll also explore how to create textile patterns using different tools and techniques, finishing with a bag with your own design.

También aprenderás cómo teñir con añil (índigo), que ha sido cultivado y producido en Santiago Niltepec, Oaxaca.

The 17th and 18th Ingrid Flores will be teaching a Loom Weaving workshop where you'll build your own loom (55 x 55cm), learn a variety of different loom weaving stitches and techniques using different materials and textures which you'll then put into practice to create your own unique design.

On Saturday 25th Isa Gijón will be teaching a Shibori Indigo Workshop. You'll be learning a variety of different shibori techniques - a Japanese dye resist technique that create incredible patterns in textiles. You'll learn also learn how to dye using añil (indigo), that has been grown and produced in Santiago Niltepec, Oaxaca.

Lo que hemos observado mientras experimentamos con el maravilloso mundo de las plantas es que siempre hay algo nuevo por descubrir.

Recientamente para nuestro taller de Impresión Botánica trajimos algunas hojas que no habíamos usado antes. Una de ellas fue la hoja del almendro que crece en muchas partes de Oaxaca y México.

Lo que descubrimos fue que cuando se combinaba con las soluciones mordientes minerales no deja un estampada de la forma o el contorno de la hoja, sin embargo la solución interactua con los taninos de la hoja de una manera diferente a lo que hemos visto, y creó este increíble patrón que nos recordó al estampado de leopardo. Increíble, no!?

What we have found while experimenting with the wonderful world of plants is that there is always something new to discover.

During our most recent Botanic Impression workshop we brought some new leaves that we hadn't used before. One of those was the leaf from the almond tree that grows in many parts of Oaxaca and Mexico.

What we found was that when combined with the mineral mordant solutions it didn't leave an impression of the shape or outline of the leaf, but the solution interacted with the tannins of the leaf in a different way to what we usually see, and created this incredible pattern that reminded us of leopard print. Incredible no!?

En un par de semanas presentaremos un nuevo taller! Remando Visible con Isabel Gijón, una de las fundadoras de Central Textil y también la mente creativa detrás de su propia marca de ropa .mx .

Isa le enseñará una gama de diferentes puntos cómo sashiko, patrones y métodos para usar parches para reparar tu ropa creativamente y extender sus vidas. Usarás telas e hilos teñidos naturalmente y aprenderás a reparar jeans, camisas y chamaras.

In a couple of weeks we'll be introducing a new workshop! Visible Mending with Isabel Gijón, one of the founders of Central Textil and also the creative mind behind her own clothing brand .mx.

Isa will be teaching you a range of different stitches like Sashiko, patterns and methods to use patches to mend your clothes creatively and extend their lives. You'll be using naturally dyed fabrics and threads and learning how to mend jeans, shirts and jackets.
