Changing Shoes, Changing Lives!
Did you know that in Malaysia, it is nearly impossible to find footwear that embodies universal design, meaning they both appeal to and work for everyone? And when you do find it, it is not immediately affordable for the majority.
Many children and adults in Malaysia who have autism, cerebral palsy or other developmental disorders need to wear orthotics, but they usually end up wearing shoes that are too big, which hinders their independence, development, and even self-esteem.
โWe've seen countless of families not able to afford a good pair of shoes for their child and it's heartbreaking because it affects them physically, emotionally, and mentally,โ says physiotherapist Joanna Hutt, Co-founder of ZIPZAP. This is why ZIPZAP has started a fundraising initiative to help Malaysian children and youths with special needs from underprivileged backgrounds.
ZIPZAP has made it their mission to RAISE RM90,000 to provide them with 500 PAIRS OF ADAPTIVE SHOES from BILLY Footwear (US). Beneficiaries of the donations are local organisations and NGOs for special needs individuals, including: The Inclusive Outdoor Classroom, NASOM, and Gabungan Anak-Anak Palsi Serebral (GAPS).
Hereโs how you can help!
