Hello there thrifties:)
How thrifting is good for the planet?
1. Lowers your carbon footprint.
> This is another one of those phrases we were taught young "carbon footprint." We frequently believe that the only way we can accomplish this is by riding to work rather than taking the car or by taking shorter showers. Even if these are excellent methods, one easy approach to lessen our carbon footprint is to go thrifting.
2. Aids in water preservation.
> Whether you are aware of it or not, making clothes requires a lot of time, effort, and water, each of which we desperately need and are slowly running out of. Every step of the clothes production process involves a significant amount of water use. Shopping secondhand contributes to the preservation of water.
3. Reduce chemical pollution.
>Thrifting also lessens the chemical pollution that is brought on by the production and consumption of new clothing. Consider cotton cultivation. Not only does it require a lot of water, but it also requires a lot of pesticides. This means that the cultivation and processing of cotton results in the acidity of the soil and the contamination of the water. And it's made of a substance that many people consider as sustainable.
4. Contributes to charities.
>Shopping secondhand also plays a role in boosting community development. Instead of supporting global corporations that exploit the environment, your money can be used to support small local businesses and organizations. Even better, the charities that the store support often do things to aid the environment or assist locals in need.
5. Decreases landfill waste.
> Lastly, many individuals are unaware that recycling extends beyond the standard plastics and now includes textiles. The world benefits greatly from thrifting since less clothing ends up in landfills. More people than ever before are becoming aware of the fact that giving away or donating the clothing you no longer want will have a much bigger impact than throwing it in the trash.
Thankyou for you time:)
