This showroom was supposed to be ready in a month. Spoiler: it wasn’t. 😂

There were contractors who didn’t show up, workmanship that had to be redone, a few decisions that looked much better in our heads… and a budget that very quickly reminded us we couldn’t just throw money at every problem. 🫠

So somewhere along the way, we started doing a lot of it ourselves.

Partly because we were trying to keep the renovation within budget. Partly because after enough contractor disappointments, sometimes “I’ll just do it myself” starts sounding like a very reasonable business strategy. 😂

And of course, while all this was happening, there was still Kissahh to run. Orders to fulfil. New pieces to work on. And all the normal parts of life happening in between.

It hasn’t been the smooth little one-month transformation I imagined. But slowly, our new Kissahh showroom in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur is starting to feel like us. 🤍

A little imperfect. A lot more DIY than expected. But built with so much intention.

We’re almost there. Just a little bit more, and we’ll finally be ready to welcome you in.

Come spend an island day with us at Batu Batu Island, Malaysia. 🌴

Think salty air, slower mornings, linen shirts, good food and absolutely nowhere to rush to.

Consider this our little island holiday diary.

One of the nicest things about an island escape? Suddenly, doing nothing feels like doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. Watch the sunset, listen to the waves, feel the sea breeze and let the day move a little slower.

Our very serious island itinerary: eat something delicious, swim, take a long beach walk, then disappear with a book for a while. 😌 Sometimes the best holiday plans are the ones with very little planning.

If there’s one thing we’re always packing for a tropical holiday, it’s a white linen shirt. Easy over swimwear, polished enough for lunch, comfortable for wandering around the resort and somehow always looks right against blue skies and sandy beaches. 🤍

Tiny things that make a big difference under the tropical sun. Water within reach, sunscreen reapplied, a good sun hat and sunglasses on. Your future self will thank you.

Probably one of the most special moments of this island trip: watching tiny turtle hatchlings begin their journey to the sea. 🐢

A beautiful reminder that enjoying nature also means respecting and protecting the places and wildlife we’re lucky enough to experience.

Building a fashion brand is hard anywhere. But the longer I build Kissahh, the more I notice the little things about doing it here in Malaysia that I once took for granted.

So, in the spirit of Merdeka month, here’s my little appreciation post for home. 🤍

One of the most meaningful parts of building a Malaysian fashion brand is seeing women from different races, backgrounds and walks of life wearing Kissahh.

Different stories and different personal styles, but so many shared values around comfort, quality and thoughtful clothing. That diversity has shaped Kissahh more than we probably realise.

Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, Merdeka and all the celebrations in between.
For a local Malaysian brand, every festive season gives us another opportunity to learn, create, gather and celebrate alongside different parts of our community. More importantly, we get to celebrate each other.

Some of our favourite Kissahh events and gatherings have one thing in common: good food on the table.

Food has always been such a big part of Malaysian culture, and I love watching it bring customers, friends and strangers together. Apparently, community building works better with kuih. 😂

Behind Kissahh is a whole network of local suppliers, makers, creatives, event organisers, collaborators and customers.

So much of running a small business comes down to someone saying, “I know someone who can help.” That willingness to support one another gives local Malaysian businesses like ours the confidence to keep going.

This is probably the one I appreciate more as I get older.

Being able to build a business in a relatively safe and stable environment gives entrepreneurs room to experiment, make mistakes and keep moving forward. It’s something that’s easy to overlook until you realise what a privilege that freedom can be.

Our online community can be wonderfully unpredictable, but we’ve also seen how powerful Malaysian social media can be for local brands and small businesses.

A share, recommendation, comment or viral moment can introduce a homegrown business to thousands of new people overnight. Sometimes supporting local really is as simple as pressing “share.”

The past few weeks have looked a little different behind the scenes.

While things may have been quieter on Instagram, they’ve been anything but quiet in real life. We’ve been building, creating, problem-solving, and slowly putting together the next chapter of Kissahh.

Here’s a little peek behind the scenes. 🤍

This showroom has taken much longer than we expected.

There were delays, unexpected changes, and plenty of moments where we had to simply trust the process.

Building something meaningful isn’t always fast.
Sometimes, taking your time is the best investment you can make.

Some of our favourite ideas didn’t happen behind a laptop.

They happened over a good meal, a coffee, or simply taking a moment to slow down.

A little reminder that rest isn’t time wasted.
Sometimes it’s where the best ideas begin.

Hundreds of fabrics.
Different textures.
Different colours.
Different possibilities.

The hardest part isn’t finding beautiful fabrics.
It’s choosing the ones that truly deserve a place in your wardrobe.

Not without delays.
