Inspired by their travels, they noticed local youth wearing ethnic fabrics, which sparked the idea to create a similar movement in Malaysia using Batik with fine detailing and distinctive design. Ekram, fascinated by process and creativity, creates dynamic teamwork with Farhan, who focuses more on navigating the brand’s overall quality and presence. Together, they founded Kapten Batik in 2017 and

the brand is progressively on its big mission.

[Vision & Mission]

Our vision is to be a brand that contemporizing Batik wear and modernizing traditional techniques for everyday wear in our time. Our mission is to produce a series of tailored approach, everyday Batik that is sustainable and of high quality, with thoughtful design and attention to detail in its creation, including textile design and concepts. This also includes promoting the presence of artisanal handcraft and traditional textiles.

[Art of Craftsmanship]

Instead of the typical floral prints, Kapten Batik takes a more eclectic approach to its motifs, creating signature prints based on carefully curated concepts. The founders, who are avid travelers, often draw inspiration from their experiences in cities and nature. They work closely with talented designers to translate these inspirations into distinctive batik designs. Keenly, Ekram has always been fascinated by the technical aspects of batik-making particularly the transformation of plain white fabric into a timeless masterpiece.
