Sky Ride at Dairyfarmland, Bogor.
Honestly? I said yes for the adrenaline. That was it. I didn't think much about the risk, the height, or what I was actually signing up for.
Before boarding, the staff asked me to read the risk notice again. I read it β but let's be real, I wasn't really reading it. I just nodded and got on.
And then I was up there. Alone.
The thing is heavier than it looks. You have to pedal it yourself. Somewhere along the way, when I was already high above the ground, the fear finally decided to show up. Every corner, I could feel the whole thing shaking. At one point I was holding the handle on the empty seat beside me β the one meant for a second rider β as if that would make me safer.
The route was short. It didn't feel short at all.
But I kept pedalling, because what else could I do up there? Alhamdulillah, I made it to the end. And the first thing I told myself when I got off: that's it, never again. π
Still, I keep thinking about it.
I only got on that ride because I didn't overthink it. If I had properly sat down and imagined every single thing that could go wrong, I'd still be standing at the platform watching other people go up.
And I do this a lot in real life too. The plan I keep delaying. The idea I keep polishing instead of launching. The step I know I need to take but keep waiting to feel ready for. We tell ourselves we're being careful, but sometimes we're just scared.
So maybe that's the reminder I brought home from Bogor: just make the move. The fear will still be there β it comes along for the ride β but you can be scared and still keep pedalling. And that's usually enough to get you to the other side.
