In 2017, a British man named Dunstan Low was struggling to sell his historic country house.

So he tried something wild.

Instead of dropping the price again, he raffled it online for £2 a ticket.

The prize was Melling Manor, an 18th-century six-bedroom home in Lancashire, complete with a ballroom, cinema room, and countryside views.

The raffle exploded.

Around 500,000 paid entries came in from around the world, raising close to £900,000.

Then came the winner:

Marie Segar, from Warrington.

She had bought just 20 tickets for £40.

And with one of them, she won the entire house.

Not only that, she also received the title:

Lady of Melling.

A £2 ticket turned into a country manor.

And a man who could not sell his house found the most unexpected way out.
